QuothTheRaven United States5524 Posts August 01 2010 10:06 GMT #22 Your league doesn't really impact the players that you play; the system has a guess for where your "skill" is, and it rates you against players who have a similar "skill" rating. Once the system gets pretty sure about where your "skill" rating stands, it'll place you in the appropriate league. In the mean time, you just sit in the league that you're in. If you feel that the system's assessment of your skill is too high, you can either just stick it out and it'll continually put you against worse and worse players until you start winning 50%, or, if you're impatient and really want to get down there, go and leave like 30 games right at the start of the game, and your "skill" rating will plummet so low that you'll be winning for hours before you start playing people around your ability level. (Theoretically)

sargon16 1 Post August 06 2010 02:48 GMT #23 I have a similar problem. I got lucky and went 4/1 in placement. The last match the guy disconnected or something, he was winning and surrendered. The other 3 wins were against players who had clearly never played an rts before. So it placed me in platinum... I'm getting utterly demolished. And if anything my play is getting worse because I'm so demoralized. I've lost ten matchs in a row and it still hasn't demoted me. It is pretty difficult to improve when you die to overwhelming force, or crazy weird tactics I've never heard of. Losing to half a dozen zerglings is particularly disheartening If I'd known this was going to happen I would have tanked my placement matches so I could play people of my skill, not hand easy wins to players who are clearly superior.
