I am posting this for clarification from someone not me
"I've searched the net, and I can't figure out how to get bumped down a league in Starcraft 2.
I've somehow managed to win 3 out of 5 of my placement matches, which has screwed me, because now I'm in the Gold league, and I'm getting owned. I've lost 17 times in a row, I even got owned by friggin drones in one round."
Please help, because this just isn't fun, I want to play people closer to my skill level. "
Again I am posting this for answers on a guy on help on another forum which i will give him this URL for help

The system should demote you automatically.
Most people usually see the first league change after 25 games.
|
if you're losing that much, you should be playing people below your league anyways... the system doesn't suck that much, so I'm pretty sure you're playing people in silver or bronze despite your gold ranking.
not that this will help that much, since you're probably playing against bronze players who should be in higher ranks... but it'll sort itself out eventually.
|
Just keep playing man, it'll level out eventually.
|
You can always just join-->exit over and over to tank your rating more rapidly :D
|
Ah, the good ol' "No... no, you don't understand. I'm asking about a friend, not me!"
|
Continue playing.
You'll be demoted if you continue to lose.
Also, if you are at a 50% win/loss ratio, you are playing people at your skill level. Just FYI.
|
I know seriously. Why are you so concerned that it's not you who needs help.
|
Asking when you will get demoted is counter productive. Why not read some threads and posts here to improve? You won't really know what your skill level is until you've leveled out which will take time.
|
Good luck man. Keep your chin up, keep on playing, and one of two things will happen; you'll improve or you'll downrank.
I recommend the former Silver league people won't make the hairs on the back of your neck rise up with fear of where the next stiletto will come from. A good competitive 1v1 game should make you scared.

Bite the bullet man, or just do wht the above posters said

Being in gold doesn't mean you get to play only other gold players- if you're outperforming gold players significantly, you'll start playing platinum players for several games until you're eventually promoted; if you're underperforming, you should be playing against opponents from lower leagues.

if after 25 games he is not demoted, he should contact blizzard support. but he will get demoted to bronze if he loses to gold/silver consitently. i bumped from silver straight to diamond after a 8 game streak because i won against plat/diamond players.

I have a constant habit of looking at my opponents profiles after a game. As a diamond level player I mostly play new plat(less than 20 games). I won't say the system is broken, but I do face an occasional gold level player, even with about a 60% win rate.
As others have posted, try to work on your own game, and not about being in lower leagues just to win more. You don't see major league basebaall players trying to crap themselves into the minors so they can smash 50 homers and bat .400
|
My first placement I played someone who was number 1 in their group in diamond. I held my own but played really sloppy and lost. Then I thought about if you were a brand new player and thats where you ended up. GG matchmaking lol

I placed in gold, moved to plat. today lost 2 games against gold players, then won 1 game vs a diamond and now it places me in diamond and i've been losing ever since. The whole system is really weird. It seems cool in theory but it's a bit confusing.

Agreed, being in Diamond gives you no money.

Any system when it starts has it's rough spots because there really isn't an equilibrium yet since there is lack of information. It hasn't even been a week and until several months go by people won't really know what league they belong to. Especially new/inexperienced players. It sucks, just give it time and it will get better and keep on plugging away at the ladder.
