from what i can see Virgin Gaming and MLG are basically ignoring SC2..
we have Virgin Gaming willing to host sponsor and organize EA NHL leagues but SC2 is basically ignored.... what a joke.
is any North American eSports major player stepping up and creating a quality competitive series( i mean with more than 10K in prize money ) for the competitive SC2 player that lives in North America ?

Jimmy!!! From what i've heard from jp/day 9 past interviews/commentaries is that mlg will take part in the sc2 scene. Mlg has already gotten their feet wet with a few showmatches. Check em out! Cheers!
|
MLG will do lots of stuff for SC2 from what I heard. I mean they wouldn't do the KOTH stuff and State of the game episodes if they didn't have something more serious in mind.
|
Maybe Day9'll get picked up as the host for starcraft events. MLG goes where the money is. If they can make a profit out of SC2, they will certainly spend even more time promoting the game.
So it's an uphill battle, but we should strive for it. Also, I could see a couple contracted teams going around America. Atleast a few gamers.
|
MLG is not ignoring StarCraft 2. One of the MLG "boss" figures was interviewed on Live On Three and he practically said SC2 will be on MLG as surely as the sun will rise next morning.
Virgin Gaming is more targeted towards casual console games and is very far from the esports scene that most of us TLers are looking forward to. If they were going to start the next OSL they would've picked very different games, their plans are just very different from creating the next Korea.
Don't worry, there will be money to be earned.

There will be bloo...ahem...Money, fame, & glory!
|
The game not actually being released is the biggest factor in why there is nothing big yet I would guess?
|
I might not be from North America but... It's a beta? I think you will find a lot more going on when the game goes live.
|
Like the posters above me already have mentioned both Virgin Gaming and MLG are some of the many sponsors that have showed great interest in SC2. SC2 is anything but ignored.
|
i think many tournaments and events will come after release. many ppl r forgetting this is actually beta stage, weve actually had a ridiculous number of tournaments imo :p have some faith!
|
I've been watching for tournaments at local LAN centers near me as well. Sadly none near me, closest ones being all the way in Chicago ( I'm in Milwaukee ), but I follow them on facebook now.
MLG picking up starcraft will be exciting. I actually could have gone to MLG for Tekken this year but didn't have enough money. MLG is def bad ass.

Virgin Gaming has shown interest in sc2? I'd like a link to that plox

how can you shown interest in a game that inst out yet some patience and they should pick it up.
|
I think with how many exciting tournaments were in beta people are getting a bit ahead of themselves with talk of sponsors and an esports scene.
Game is in beta still... Give it some time, I'm sure MLG at the very least has plans for SC2.
Hopefully MLG is not the only company looking into sponsoring some kind of tournament scene but at least we know someone is.

Also, don't forget about the OSL2, It's not based in Korea but there will be qualifiers from all over the world, then they will be flown to Korea for the RO16!!
