I re-installed SC2 but can't patch it back up now the bnet servers are down (thus not allowing me to play vs. offline ai etc etc).

Are there any manual patch files you guys are aware of?

I'm quoting from this thread

"First, you need the patch files. You'll likely need to grab them from a mirror. See the above post for a list.

Now for the tedious part!
Make sure you do each patch in order.

For each file in each patch, do the following:
1) Move/copy the file to the Support folder in your install folder.
2) Rename it to sc2-patch.MPQ
3) Run Blizzard Updater.exe
4) Delete sc2-patch.MPQ.

It shouldn't matter what order you execute these files within each patch version. It's VERY important, however, that each patch is done in order and that you don't miss a file in a patch. If you don't know what you're doing, make a post in the forum about your issue. We'll try fixing it some other way. "

I did this and it did patch my game, but I'm still unable to load any custom games. I think it's a problem with sc2 on my end though, because it was happening before I reinstalled the beta. Basically when I start sc2, a little box with the logo appears on my screen. At this point the game usually crashes. If it makes it any farther it'll crash once sc2 is loading up a map. The progress bar won't advance at all.

So they don't have to wait 10 hours patch the day beta reopens.

The new patch that will be released upon phase two will wipe all other patches if i remember correctly so this reason alone is something you should overlook.

I also have the same problem with the small box appearing and just standing there on the middle of the screen for several minutes before it crashes, kind of wierd as this was never a problem before I uninstalled it :\

If you find a solution to this, please post it here

Actually, the beta is deleting all old patches and installing one new standard one.

I did the following to enable the autoupdates by Blizz.

1. Install the game.
2. Download this realmlist.stf http://sc2.nibbits.com/assets/starcrack-allin1/files/241/get.
3. Copy it to Your supportfolder.
4. restart the game

If these steps arn't sufficent read :

Go to the battle.net site and log in, assuming you were a part of the phase 1 beta

Matharos - That method works if u patch each patch properly, meaning u have to unzip each patch one by one and not unzip all at once. I tried this method once and I guessed I miss one file or something and my game could not load

There is a second method, however since the EU Server is down I dun know if it works. U can pre-download all the patch and unzip them into the update folder in the main Starcraft II Beta directory and replace the realmlist.stf (US Version) file in the support folder with the EU version of that file and normal launching the game should patch the files without having to download it. But this method requires the EU patching server to be up

When you extract the zip file I get 4 files, I assume its the "sc2-0.2.0.13891-0.3.0.14093-x86-Win-enUS-game" that your rename "sc2-patch.mpq"?

No you actually have to do this for all the files, here's a youtube vid that shows how to do it:

Yep u have to rename each file to sc2-patch.mpq, one at a time, and use the updater for each file
Missing one is not an option

Baksteen beat me to it (i had to create an account first ), you need to rename each file, we need a script that does this automatically
SuperVogel's method isnt working here (the one with the new realms file), I have the EU version of the game

I wrote a batch file for doing this.

ren %1 sc2-patch.mpq
"Blizzard Updater"
del sc2-patch.mpq

Save that into notepad and save the file as patcher.bat, then drag the patches in order onto the batch file. Make sure the patches and the bat file are in the support folder when doing the process.

Even after patching I can't run sc2 suctom maps. It gets to the loading screen but the progress bar never updates. It does this even when I open and test custom maps with the galaxy editor. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling/repatching about 3 times now and I'm about to give up. I even delete my cache between installs. When I just open up the blizzard sc2 launcher I get this small logo that just sits on my desktop forever until I ctrl alt del. None of the custom launchers work either. Really frustrating, makes me want phase 2 even more.

Baksteen's suggestion just launches the game and attempts to patch via the EU servers instead of the US servers (US ones are down and aren't patching). Basically you right click the realmlist.stf file and save it to the support folder, then launch SC2. It will patch the normal way via the EU servers. However, each time it does this, it rewrites the realmlist.stf file as US, so after each patch you have to re-save the EU one.

It's weird because for me it isn't loading the patcher at all, it just straight proceeds into loading the unpatched sc2.exe. And i think i am doing it right:

- I got a clean install
- I put the realmlist.stf file into the support folder (C:\program files\SC2 beta\Support)
- I run the starcraft2.exe from my desktop

Maybe that only works with the US client or something?

Unfortunately the eu-patchserver is down now..

It worked 2 days ago.
And i got the german client, so its not a clientspecific problem

Looks like you have to wait

For those of you having it freeze on you while loading after having it patched, it's the Battle.net.MPQ (in your Battle.net folder) from patch 13 that breaks it. Just delete it/move it somewhere else and it should be fine. =)

It worked. OMG. I manually patched/reinstalled over and over trying to get this to work and you just solved the problem. Thanks, I was going crazy waiting for phase 2 without the ability to play custom maps. Now I can lay off persona 4.

But guys isn't the second phase supposed to come with ONE entirely new patch? So all the old ones are obsolete, right? This should also mean that we don't gain anything from patching now, unless we want to play custom games at least...?

I also have trouble with this, how do I know what version I have now? I was away for end of bete and don't know what my latest patch was (maybe 12).

But I can load YABOT right now, is that possible without having the latest version of teh beta client installed?

It depends on the custom map, some of them require you to be at a certain patch.

You can tell what version you have by the highest numbered "base" folder in your versions folder in your SC2 directory. Patch 16 is "Base15655".

Patch 12 is 15343, I think.

I found it easier to put in a "move c2-patch.mpq [SC2 path]" after renaming. Then you don't have to remember which patch you've already done. They get moved and deleted.
Of course then you have to change the two last lines so they contain the complete path (which probably is different than mine below), and the patcher.bat needs to be in the folder that contains the patches.

ren %1 sc2-patch.mpq
move sc2-patch.mpq E:\Spel\"StarCraft II Beta"\Support
E:\Spel\"StarCraft II Beta"\Support\"Blizzard Updater"
del E:\Spel\"StarCraft II Beta"\Support\sc2-patch.mpq

I can't load YABOT at all. The loading bar doesn't move. I patched up to 16. First time when I only patched the GAME-files YABOT worked but I the keyboard didn't work (shortcuts and bindings).

Did you delete the Battle.net.MPQ?

If so, then my guess would be because you did it out of order.

a google search yielded this order, testing now:
1 part
1.download the patch
2.rename *-enUS-bnet-base to sc2-patch.MPQ
3.place the sc2-patch.MPQ in support folder
4.run Blizzard Updater.exe

2 part
1.rename *-enUS-bnet-bin to sc2-patch.MPQ
2.place the sc2-patch.MPQ in support folder
3.run Blizzard Updater.exe

3 part
2.rename *-enUS-game to sc2-patch.MPQ
3.place the sc2-patch.MPQ in support folder
4.run Blizzard Updater.exe

4 part
1.rename *-enUS-locale to sc2-patch.MPQ
2.place the sc2-patch.MPQ in support folder
3.run Blizzard Updater.exe

Starting off a clean installation here's what you do:

1.Download all the patches, make sure you get the right ones for your os and region.

Patch mirror: mirror 1

2. Manually patch the game yourself by doing the following:
(copied from battle.net forums, unaware of source)

"For each file in each patch, do the following:
1) Move/copy the file to the Support folder in your install folder.
2) Rename it to sc2-patch.MPQ
3) Run Blizzard Updater.exe
4) Delete sc2-patch.MPQ"

Do this for every file in every patch. Each patch must be done in order. If you get an "unable to patch" message then you've messed up the order somehow. Make sure you update patch 12 before updating to patch 12.1, lots of people were getting stuck on this.

If you want to make it easier on yourself then do what nyx said:

After you've done all that try to run your custom maps, replays, whatever. If it doesn't work then you need to follow scientia's advice:

These are the exact steps I took and now I can run custom games, galaxy editor, etc.

I see different files in my downloads. Should the file I am renaming be the base, bin, game or locale?

You gotta rename all of them, and update one by one. Rename *base, update. Rename *bin, update...and so on. There're a couple bat files posted earlier to make it easier.

I tried multiple times to manual patch a fresh install, but on patch 13 I get errors, and the screen remains black when I try to load. This took a good 6 hours of my time, so I gave up.

That happened to me, and it turned out that I was updating patch 12.1 before doing patch 12. If that's not the problem then there's nothing you can do about it because the only solution is to patch 13 errors involves connecting to euro bnet servers.

I was able to patch all the patches on the link (up to 16). But now when i start the game i only see the spaceship flying, and there are no buttons or fields to enter my login information. Any tips on how to solve this?

I use windows firewall, but have allowed it to go through on the popup, and also manually in the FW software...

Apparently this has not been an issue for many people except some mac-dudes, and they solved it by rebooting (which ive tried, and i have a pc).

Gonna try with a disabled firewall now, and if that dont work, update gfx drivers.

All this happens when running sc2.exe, if i drop a rep on the .exe it stops on a black screen with only the sc mousepointer, nothing more...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

why would you need to just run the sc2 launcher, it's impossible to login...try deleting the Battle.net.MPQ file from the battle.net folder

Well im downloading the rep-launchier, but while i wait, id just like it to behave normally in case itl mess up with the rep-launcher too.

The mpq is already moved and renamed, by the way.

And how to i get to patch 17/18? Just found up to 16 in the links here.

I was able to launch a game with the rep manager, but im still unable to view reps for some reason... When pressing the start replay button in the manager it simply shows some popups and then nothing happens...

Edit: With patches up to 16 im now able to play a v.13 rep at least...

Edit2: Ok all works now, up to reps at patch 16 at least. Too bad artios' pack is at 17...

I've spent about 2 days of my life reinstalling and manual patching, and once i finally figured out that I was missing the 12.1 patch, i patched up to 16, but I was still getting "Internal Battle.net Error" everytime i tried to launch from sc2allin.. Deleting Battlenet.mpq makes it work. finally... i can play against greentea now!

Beta/Updates? Did you make that folder yourself? The patch files go in "StarCraft II Beta\Support"

I'm sorry my post was unclear. I realize update servers are offline. What I was wondering about was if there is a point of manually patching in anticipation of phase 2 to make things quicker when it's released(I have a fresh install atm). I heard patches will be deleted and replaced by a big one when phase 2 start, is this right?

I'm in a somewhat awkward position. I deleted some of the BaseXXXXX folders to save on HD space so obviously I can't watch replays from those specific patches. I was wondering though, if it would be possible to patch in / add in the specific data for those patches to allow me to play the reps. Is there a technique using the sc2patches.net files, or am I going to have to try and track down copies of the actual BaseXXXXX folders?

Extract all patches in support folder, and run the batch file. It will loop though all patches :D

Edit: Sorry, don't know how to make the "[quote]"'s work :/

I re-installed SC2 but can't patch it back up now the bnet servers are down (thus not allowing me to play vs. offline ai etc etc).

Are there any manual patch files you guys are aware of?

It's only the US servers that are down.

The EU patch servers are up; follow the threads for creating/editing your realmlist.stf file (in this forum). It works from any patch level (or from unpatched)...still, beware the MOAP (it's a nine hundred megabyte patch file).
Bad news, fellas

Does patching backwards work?
I'm wondering because when I updated to the latest patch I can't do anything with SCallin1 or the map editor anymore since it requires me to register and beta is offline so it doesn't work
