In RTS the dynamic is different from other games, like FPS or MMORPG. A typical RTS game involves very few players and high levels of concentration. When you are actually playing the game you are not being very social at all. The social aspect comes from the chat channels. It exists in an ongoing background community that you pass in and out of when playing the game. Chat Channels are the RTS equivalent of Dedicated Servers. They are the backbone of the community. FPS communities spring from the same people repeatedly playing on the same servers. RTS communities spring from the same people chatting in their favorite channels. | ||

-------Every Voice Matters Great ideas can come from anywhere. Blizzard Entertainment is what it is today because of the voices of our players and of each member of the company. Every employee is encouraged to speak up, listen, be respectful of other opinions, and embrace criticism as just another avenue for great ideas.---------- They listened to retarded voices this time maybe ..... | ||

In Brood War/Starcraft/Diablo never ever was there any moderation of chatchannels. We have this very unique command called ./ignore ./squelch. That was all we ever needed. Blizzard prime was obviously in '98 when they released starcraft. Blizzard can easily add chatchannels and designated country channels and not moderate them. Something like that is programmed in a day. | ||

They want our money to live as a company...just put your VISA/Paypal on ignore... I thank Blizzard for giving me the opportunity to test SC2 in the beta phase...I could go away from WoW. Now that I see how SC2 will be...I will not join this "patch & pay to get features" adventure. Thank you Blizzard for giving me now free time....to play....music and do something more creative in my life. | ||

If they don't change this it's very sad, since the game itself is amazing and has true potential but the platform is...well we all know. | ||

No chatrooms and no cross-region basically means that they are going to release a handicapped version of B.Net 1.0. And no LAN feature is hurting dedicated fans as well as competitive play to a large extent... | ||

If it's easy to implement...and it must be, why the hell wouldn't they do it? it doesn't make sense. And that's without factoring in the uproar this is causing in the community. | ||
