Yah why would the designers want players to be forced to communicate through other means?
Ill give you a hint. It starts with "F" and ends with "cebook".

While this is a commendable effort, it's kind of indirect passive aggression. Isn't there some more active way to show our dislike of the direction Blizzard is taking the game?
Everyone should spam Blizzard with hate mail. Seriously.

wtf...and bnet 2.0 was supposed to be an improvement over 1.0.......

Just vote. If we get enough people willing to rate BNET as we feel it deserves Blizzard will notice.

Wow. I think I'm going to try and cancel my pre-order. That interview seems so surreal. We're definitely getting the shaft.

Reminds me of when Robert Bowling dropped the bomb about MW2 not having dedicated servers on the PC community...only now the PC community is the only one that SC2 has.

Blizzard. Sure there will be a lot of players buying it initially, but if the game get really bad ratings that limits the influx of new players that don't have much attachment to SC1 and therefore are much more influential to reviews and ratings. Yeah that really stopped MW2 sales, right?
Its a childish action that doesn't get anything changed.
No one turns to Amazon for reviews for games because its so full of idiotic moves like this by "slighted" nerds and false plants by companies.
Game is fine, BNet 2.0 is garbage. Luckily that can change if we express our opinions in proper channels...
like the beta forums!
Not whining on Amazon.

While this is a commendable effort, it's kind of indirect passive aggression. Isn't there some more active way to show our dislike of the direction Blizzard is taking the game? This is a proven method. As stated before this approach got EA to change Spore's DRM with only 700 bad reviews. Imagine what we could do with 1000. Lowering the rating hurts the bottom line. And trust me companies care about that bottom line. So register in that poll people. Would you be willing to push a button to show blizzard your dissatisfaction? Massive piracy got them to change, not 4chan-level Amazon invasions

nevermind this is going to lead to a pointless argument that will never be resolved

Oh well, it's only a matter of time after release before iccup 2.0 gets rolling and blizzard is gonna look like a bunch of retards when it has everything we want for free and more.
|
Also, for fun, lets track the history of flavor of the month whining
Three parts to game then MBS/Automine then Beta delay then Hard counters then moving shot micro then Bnet 2 (legit complaints but "game unplayable" is overblown)

What is wrong with blizzard... they've really got their head up their ass on this one... please pardon my language....

For as long as I have been on this forum, there has been Archerofaiur pushing some idea of his with thousands upon thousands of threads and polls. Nearly every single one of them has been polarizing, and largely filled with manic agreement or disagreement.
Can you cool it with the reiteration, for a mo?

I like how "BNET 2.0 sucks" was my idea :p
Look at all the people I convinced...
And PanzerDragoon, Battlenet 2.0 has ALWAYS been a issue.

Read the ToS, you can't host any e-sports without Blizzards written consent

Companies like Valve go out of their way to surprise me with content I didn't even know I wanted.
Companies like Activision Blizzard go out of their way to ignore their fans explicit and easily fulfilled requests.
I pre-ordered Heroes of Newerth during the beta, because of the amazing job they did making a Battle.net that wasn't total shit (including not only chat channels and a ranking system, but revolutionary new internet features such as reconnection support *gasp*). I haven't even played the game since its release, but I don't regret paying for it because I'm glad to support S2 Games and their dedication to their fans.
I hadn't pre-ordered SC2 yet, but if I had, I would be canceling it right now. It's really a wonderful game to play, but I can't support a company that makes decisions like this. I suppose I'd be pleased if I was a stockholder, but Blizzard seems to be pursuing the bottom line without regards for the long-term health of the game and its community.
At this point I'll probably just pirate the hell out of the single player and play Brood War. Sorry artists and coders, I'll try to send you some cash.

I aint going to be spending $700.00 to upgrade my computer for this game. I was planning on it and was convinced that blizzard could not fail. After playing the beta, I regret putting down 50 bucks for my key, I should have just put 5 bucks down. Ive gone back to playing BW WC3 and AOM, those games are more fun.
Real disappointing, to pull off a solid loki rush actually takes alot of skill. Anyone can put up to gate ways and 10 gate to plat, it takes no skill whatsoever even in BW rushing takes skill.

You did that for StarCraft and Warcraft 3, I think.
Yeah, for Warcraft 3 we did maps every week.
Yes, and nobody gave fucking damn about it so why revive it?
But you're not excluding the possibility – you're just saying there are no current plans for it?
There are no current plans for it, and if you're a European player and you've got friends that are in another region that you want to be able to connect with, we definitely want to support that. It might mean that you have to access it through the US client, but those facilities will definitely be available in terms of, if you want the US client, go to the US website, download the US client.
So uh, what's the big deal about global e-sports and global marketing? Blizzard have been bashing on Korea for not trying to globalize SC1 [Not saying Kespa is great or anything like that...] , so Blizzard is gonna step up and separate the world in order to achieve global esport?
Another thing I thought you'd promised was chat rooms within Battle.net...
Nope. No plans for specific chat rooms at this time. You'll be able to open up chats direct with your friends, and when we add clans and groups there'll be chats for your clans and groups, but no specific plans for chat rooms right now. Do you really want chat rooms?
APPARENTLY in Blizzard's view, all gamers do is to play games, watch replay, go to facebook, and give them money through PayPal. There is no need for communication between people, just gaming.
On a slightly skewed angle, as far as Blizzard's concerned, how important is Asia and the Asian market?
For Blizzard, every market is important, where we're shipping and publishing. All of our fans are important to us worldwide. If you just look at Asia in terms of market share, Asia is huge for us. We have millions of players in China playing World of Warcraft, and we feel like China is still a big, huge growth opportunity in terms of the gaming market. So yeah, definitely really important in terms of we've got millions of fans there and we want to make sure that they're served well, and there's still growth to be seen.
THANKS A LOT FOR IGNORING SOUTH KOREA AND ITS EFFORT STARCRAFT, I mean it was no big deal at all. 10 years of hard work, and not even a mention in the interview, YOU'RE WELCOME.
I have one more question. I know you said you're not going to support LAN play with StarCraft, but there has been rumours that there might be some semi-offline mode – log on once to make sure that you have the client, and can connect. Are there any such plans?
The offline mode would be for the single-player component, so if you want to play the campaign offline, if you validate the version on Battle.net and then you play offline for campaign.
If you have a really bad internet connection, but you have a couple of friends there...
That functionality's not there. Our goal is to make sure that connectivity to the Battle.net servers is such that that's the experience that people want.
So, in order to make global e-sport, Blizzard will remove lag-free option and force any tournament/pro gamers to use Battle.net server. BECAUSE BATTLE.NET IS SO RELIABLE AND HAS 0 LATENCY.
I'm about done with all my ranting, srsly wtf was Frank Pearce thinking?
