Went to place 2v2 random today, and lost a game because my minimap went completely black at the beginning of the game. I couldn't see any units, terrain, minerals, colors or anything--just a black square. (got cannon pushed in a corner too.. couldn't scout it because I couldn't see)
Anyway, what causes this? I've checked out a few posts on blizz forums and it seems this is a known problem associated occasionally with replays from older patches, but apparently it's now happening on occasion in games.
If you know what causes this, or have experienced it, please share what you think might be the problem.
I didn't alt tab, and as far as I know I didn't hit anything out of the ordinary, and the minimap was completely disabled independent of anything i clicked on the map or any option I could find. Only a relog fixed the problem it seemed. It hasn't come back, but I don't want to keep losing random games from some phantom error like this.

edit: I just played a 2v2 with my friend and my keyboard was completely non-functioning for the entire game. I couldn't use any hotkeys or type... after the game the chat worked fine, and I could alt tab and talk on AIM..... wtf? Has this happened to anyone?
I didn't play a UMS game in that instance of SC2 and I also didn't access the replay control...

It always happens to me when I load a replay (REAL pain in the ass to digest information), but I haven't had it happen in an actual game...yet.

Reinstalling the game seems to fix the problem.
Don't know what can cause it, I do suspect custom maps, though.
It might be possible that some files get corrupted by those custom games.

I have played several custom games lately, and they always crash at the end of the game, and the exit button doesn't work ( have to load it up from the menu)
I wonder if this has something to do with it.

happened to me once in a game, always have this problem with replays.

From my observation it is triggered by opening replays section on Bnet2.0. From that moment every game played or watched will have blank minimap. Restarting SC2 solves the problem.
I have tried moving all the replays away from the replay folder. When the folder was clear the minimap problem did not occur. However after opening the replay section which contained only one replay the problem occured again. Therefore the problem isn't caused by some old or custom map replay, but by any replay in the folder.

hm I have a friend who gets it randomly but I haven't had it once yet luckily and hope it stays that way.
I would say make sure your graphics cards drivers are updated otherwise i got no suggestions.

this happened to me once in a play obs game, we restarted and it was gone.
Now it happens 100% of the time when I watch replays T_T (or at least 100% of the time to certain reps). And the reps are of current patch, they are actually from this time when I first got the bug in a real game.

Hmm, I did click the replay panel before loading the game where it went black. This seems like a likely culprit. I'll stay away from game replays for hte time being while I am gaming.

I get the black minimap on all my replays post patch 13. Watching the replays via SC2Allin1 seems to fix the minimap issue, so i'm just going to watch all my replays through that program until they fix the problem.

Happened to me a few matches, luckily it was 3v3 so my friends had to do all attacking. But then a few games later the problem dissapeared without me changing anything. So maybe its better just to hope it gets better if you dont want to reinstall it all.

I noticed when I load a replay by just dragging the file on the SC2 icon, the minimap isn't black anymore. Don't know about in-game though, quite scary.

Same for me. I think it's because we are not online. And it might be something with the server itself.

You don't need to use a loader - just right click on your replay and choose Open With..., and then choose your SC2.exe.
If you set them to always open using that .exe then you can just double click on the replays after that 
It's true tho, I've had this black minimap error in all replays and a couple of games since the last patch. Staying away from the replays screen in BNet seems to do the trick (haven't had it occur since).

Have yet to experience the mini-map bug personally, even though I have been playing against people in customs where it has happened to them.
I have experienced the keyboard issue once before though, not sure what caused it, but I alt-tabbed real quick out and back into the game and it fixed itself.

I've had the keyboard not working in game. If you bring up your friends list type something to a friend, and then close the window it usually fixes the problem.
EDIT: not sure what causes it, but the windows key still lets you go onto desktop (not sure if ctrl+esc works), and if you task back in that also fixes it.

Yes the black minimap bug has been my bane in several matches so far. It really is impossible to play decently if you dont have a minimap (and cant even send units or jump on it cause every time you click on it, it will just sent the units/position of your screen to the bottom left corner)
I have no idea whats causing it, for me it just seems to occur randomly and then stays until i restart the game.

I've heard that alt-tabbing (even in windowed or full-screen-windowed mode) during loading will cause this. I haven't tested it because not being able to use my minimap gives me aneurysms.

My experience is that I always get black minimap when watching replays. Sometimes I get black minimap in ladder games but is fixed the next game I play for no apparent reason. It sucks playing 1v1 ladder without a minimap.

It's the shift key. I don't know why but every time my keyboard stops working I just press shift once and everything is back to normal.

minimap doesnt work for me in replays but it works ingame, really weird xd

Don't know if this has been said but if you want to watch replays with the minimap, just drop the replay file ontop of the sc2.exe instead of running the replay from ingame. Don't know about loss of the minimap when actually playing though

dunno if anyone already posted it (if so, sorry): if you drag and drop your replay on the SC2.exe you get a minimap in replays. just a little work around

Never in game, always in replay. That chinese launcher that lets you view replays older than patch 13 also makes path 13 replays work with minimap though. At least for me.

hahah i had the keyboard one today, f10 wouldnt work, enter wouldnt work, ironically, alt+f4 did.... T-T

I was getting black minimaps in every single replay but since I did a full reinstall it no longer happens, that doesn't really help pinpoint where the problem might have been though. :o

I never look @ the minimap, so I haven't noticed if I have this problem or not... I kid, I kid Would be pretty impossible to play like that
Seems like I am one of the lucky ones, I'm on EU and I've never had either of these problems. I dropped a lot right after the 1.13 release but since then I have not had any problems at all.
I switched AZERTY - QWERTY a few times during the game though. Turns out I was pressing ALT+SHIFT...

The keyboard lock happened to me once when alt+tabing out during searching for opponent and then clicking back on the game loading screen (windowed fullscreen mode) instead of alt+tabing. After I alt+tabed out and back properly the keyboard worked fine.

Dragging replays into the SCII.exe works with minimap 100% of the time for me. I was laddering 2 days ago and had a black minimap in game, then next game it was gone. Didn't press anything, just sat there and it randomly came up :/

The minimap going black only happens to me in replays.
The keyboard not functioning... Ever since beta, I've noticed sometimes if I alt tab out of SC2 while searching from the game, if the game auto maximizes when it finds me an opponent(s) than the keyboard will stop functioning until I alt tab out of the game, and re-alt tab back in. Other than that though; I haven't had any sort of issues of the keyboard dying during a game or anything.

I'm having the same problem, but only while watching replays. I am currently reinstalling the game and will update this post with the result of wether it was fixed or not.
EDIT: Reinstalled and watched a replay; the minimap is still black.

Happens to me in replays no matter what.
In-game I've had it happen 3 or 4 times, then it'll be working the next game. Alt + Tab doesn't fix it at least while the match is happening. Don't know if restarting the game helps.

Had this today for 2games row, after log out restart Sc2 work fine.

I can't believe my first TL post will be about this.
Today I started playing Starcraft 2 again (It was too laggy before). So as usual I played my placement matches, pwned some guys and it wasn't really a challenge. But when I came to my third placement match the minimap was gone. Since it was on Kulas Ravine I thought it didn't matter since I have memorised how the map looks like. But wherever I clicked on the minimap I got to the bottom left corner. Luckily for hotkeys I won. And then, my fourth game also had the same problem. And that one I lost, against the worst player ever... Since the Beta is ending soon I won't be bother that much by this problem. But really, Blizzard, wtf?
It might work restarting Starcraft 2 and fix the problem. But why did I have the minimap the fifth game? Anyways, beta ending soon. So this problem is just a minor flaw.

I wonder if they are extending the beta p1 for a week to fix this problem (among others)?
I remember logging in the other day and the replays tab was disabled or something for me. Anyone know what that was about?
