You can't even use this ability in the way we have been debating for last 2 pages.

I think this patch looks good for zerg. I also think a lot of you are underestimating the power of frenzy. 25 energy isn't that much and having 2 infestors with 100 energy can frenzy 8 units. 8 units dealing 25% more dmg for 30 seconds could certainly turn the tide of a game.

It doesn't say anything about disabling static defense usage. I think it only stop production and research now.

I'm not saying it's a game-winning maneuver; it's just an example of what can be done with Contaminate. Of course, it could have been done before with Corruptors, but that required and additional tech-building, so it wasn't as common.

Thors and tanks are still going to totally rape ultralisks before they can even close the gap. Roaches were alright in dealing with thors and tanks when they only cost 1 supply. Lings and hydras get melted in a few volleys by tanks, and you just can't get enough roaches now to deal with lots of tanks since they now cost 2 supply. Zerg has no good way to stop mech.

well this is interesting. zerg is gonna have more micro opportunities, which is neato, plus the ultra buff (?) seems like it may make it more viable, though the health is still really low. I'm just intrigued for now, testing phase begins tomorrow!
How's the weather down there?

What if frenzy was like a dark swarm that applied the affects of frenzy underneaths its area? Then zerg would have a no-go zone again and it wouldn't feel so Warcraftish. Might be imba though

The new ultralisk is just nolonger ultralisk. Its something else.

Recall that in SC1, the ultralisk only does 20 damage (+15% each attack upgrade)/ 15 cd. The zergling does 5 damage (+20% each attack upgrade) / 6 cd. The DPS of one zergling is approximately 62.5% of the DPS of one Ultralisk.

The 3/5 ultralisk takes 134 shoots by 3/3 marine, while 3/3 zergling takes 7 shoots to die.

The A/D ratio of zergling is 62.5% * 134/7 = 12 times the A/D ratio of ultralisk. It is so huge.

That is what makes it the best combination for zerg. Ultralisks take the damage, zerglings make the damage.

Now see what we got: ultralisks are slower - they are behind zerglings and will be unable to take the damage; ultralisk hp nerf - they are unwilling to take the damagel; ultralisk slash damage + damage buff - they are more willing to make the damage.

Are they still ultralisks?

What would you use it on then? That's retarded. It's clearly just worded in an awkward way, why would you want to shut down a building that doesn't do anything? The only thing useful would be to use it on a cannon.

I have to say I think this is the best patch thus far in the beta. I feel like Blizzard has fixed Zerg for the most part and tweaked TvP in the correct direction. Protoss should still be relatively fine in all of their matchups.

nothing obviously but that's like saying, for example, 'i just lost my entire army so what do i defend this thor drop/viking harrass/etc etc etc with'... there's situations you can abuse. you need to find ways not to get stuck in those corners cos there's always gonna be abilities that are super strong in certain situations. that doesn't mean you can't. try putting like one cannon inbetween the blind spot at the back of your base and your production line. i don't even move my overseer in to drop a changeling if there's a cannon cos it alerts them to my overseer. i don't want them to know the changeling is there until my overseer has moved a decent ways away. if they find out where my overseer has been hiding, one phoenix can hunt it down.

and like i said, you can't ignore the fact that losing an overseer is a big deal for the zerg.

You realize it's just bad wording on their part? If that was the case, there would be no effect. Obviously, there is an effect, and they were being stupid with wording.
