Great job Dakota, as always. I do have a question though, is there any reason at all to keep the "sc2 game time apm" around now that it's not the actual replay apm anymore?

The only reason it was there was to stay true to the replays I thought, since it's a silly way to count apm anyways it just feels like it's not needed anymore now that the new patch has changed things around.

Let's get rid of that abomination of a AP(M/40sec) count for good!

This application is awesome, I love everything about it. However, I've noticed that some of the autosaved replays are not detected within SC2. For example, a complete list of auto-saved reps is in a particular folder on my HD, but in SC it seems random which ones can detected and played so the list might look like:

[015] XvX Shattered Temple
[010] XvX Shattered Temple
[003] XvX Shattered Temple
[001] XvX Shattered Temple

When in SC and trying to pick one to watch.

This is mostly with team games, so not really that big of a deal, but is still a bit annoying as I can't figure out what causes it. Does anyone else have this issue?

The game-time/real-time setting still has its reason for existence: if you disable real-time calculations, all time values (not just APM) will be displayed measured in game-time.

Maybe SC2 sorts the replays differently? Maybe they are saved in different folder (sub-folders)?
Maybe SC2 can't list and open replays that have too long names?

I think you're right about the long names; by default I've got it saving them with player names in the title so in team games it gets a bit ridiculous. I've just renamed them with shorter titles and it seems that SC can detect them now. Thanks for your quick response!

Couldn't this be bypassed by keeping the apm calculation separate from game time? Ah just a thought. It's not like I ever use the game time setting anyways since there's a way to turn it to real time so I guess it doesn't really matter.

Hello gears devs,

Im trying to use sc2 for a project and wish to get certain data as a measure of personal development throughout 3 months. The multireplay analzyer and average over along time has helped, but i was wondering if these features were available.

1. analyze average unspent income (in the economy tab right after you play a game) and get those values analyzed over many replays
2. Have an army value tab at certain intervals of the game or total money spent in army like in blizz replay tab
3. Anyway to extract the graphs/information blizz has already premade in the details after a game?
4. Anyway to extract info that u see in replays like money spent on army, army value, etc

Thanks

Replays do not contain enough info to calculate these values.

is there a way to map building control only until a certain point in time? In long games as zerg, injects become far less important especially once you max and have tons of larva everywhere, however until that point (usually the first 15 minutes) injects are essential. I can get a great idea just by eyeing the chart that how they are, but is there any means with which I can highlight or only take numbers up until, say, 15 minutes?

(can't live without this program btw.)

Basically, yes. Replay files basically contain a list of all the actions that a player takes during a game. But it doesn't contain anything that the game engine calculates as a result of this. The replay file contains your attack-move command, but it doesn't contain what happens to the unit afterwards. It contains your commands to build units, but it doesn't contain whether you have enough money for it or not. In order to get the full set of data from a replay file, you need to be able to mimic the SC2 game engine 100% perfectly. And only the actual SC2 client can do that.

Hi! Great program I love it
Feedback: Can we get it so that sorting by matchup won't be like
PvT
PvZ
TvP

I'm only speaking from personal preference, but I'd reckon for most people if you wanted to sort by matchup you'd want all PvTs and TvPs to be together.

I was actually coming here to mention precisely the same thing!
I have to say: SC2gears is a wonderful program with so many useful applications. Can't live without it.

This is just a minor detail that makes it hard to analyze data.
Thx for everything!

I think you misunderstand something.
The first letter is always your race, the second is your opponent's (if we talk about 1v1).

So PvT is all games where you were P and you played against T.
TvP is all games where you were T and you played against P.

is this an option? (Setting your character's name as something)
for example: (removed image from this quote. see original post)

In this picture say I wanted to see what my last few games against Terran have been (I'm Riot, protoss)
First I have to look in PvT at the dates, and then TvP at the dates to see what chronological order my PvTs are.
It seems to randomly order them for me.

I think it does that based on who is "first" player in the replay, i.e. who is red and who is blue.

I might be wrong though, but that would explain why some are listed as "TvP" instead of "PvT"

The order is indeed based on the order stored in the replay. In sc2gears this can be overridden by adding players to the favored list. For example 'Riot' could add himself to the favored list by opening the context menu by right clicking his name in the replay analyzer and choosing 'Add to the favored player list'. After this he will be shown first in replay analyzer & search results (exception: priority order of the favored list).

(Edit: removed the picture from the quotes)

Thanks! That worked.

Currently this is not possible. But I think it would be useful too, so I will probably add it in the future.

Does sc2gears have an option to use the new 1.4 APM calculation?

No, it doesn't. As for now you can calculate/display your actual APM in real time or in game time.

Are we going to get the feature 'Main Building Control' for protoss and terran? To see how effectively they are using chronoboost and mule/scan.

It's a great tool I use everyday, so I'm wondering, I don't know if it has been asked before, if you can add the option to see his SQ (spending quotient mentionned in the thread : do you macro like a pro).

That would be really cool

If I wanted it only for Zerg, it would have been named "Injection chart".

The original plan was to make it for all 3 races, but for Terran and Protoss it can't be made accurate. For example Nexus energy starts growing when a Nexus is complete. But it can't be told exactly when a Nexus completes, so it would be inaccurate.

But I plan to return to this chart to make something for Terran and Protoss.
