I believe it would be the StarCraft II.app found in the StarCraft II Beta folder under the applications folder. however under windows it shows up as a folder with other stuff in it.

That's because .apps are technically folders themselves with most if not all the application information within them. However, Starcraft II.app is still the executable since it is the thing you double click to run SC2 under any normal circumstance.

I'm currently playing with Bootcamp and Medium Settings (Shaders Medium, much of the other stuff set to low) with a MBP 2010 13inch.
It runs really smooth, even had to cap the framerate to 60, otherwise the frames would unecessarily high (75-80).
The greates problem ist the heat issue, the laptop is getting pretty hot while playing. Suprisingly the biggest heat occurred while watching replays.
Now I am unsure whether to continue playing under Bootcamp or waiting for an improvement of the mac client. I don't want to destroy my MBP with this high temperatures (sometimes around >80° Celsius) on the other hand no one knows if the mac client will reduce the heat problem.

Executables on Mac are a bit messy. The user can only see the .app package, which he/she double-clicks to open. But it is in fact a folder. I guess that you need to call

<CustomUserPath>/Starcraft II Beta.app/Contents/MacOS/Starcraft II

Please make the path customizable as filesystem restrictions (case insentitive) forces some of us to use disk images to install SC2.

Please feel free to PM is you have any questions, I'm eager to get this working on mac as well.

A dmg is an image file, not an executable.

The concept of executable file is a bit wider on OSX.
You have the folder/.app that is executable from the GUI point of view (and using open in command line) and the real (elf) executable inside .app/Contents/MacOS/
