It makes no sense for it to count apm the way it is right now, hopefully it will be fixed.

It was funny the first 1000 times. Getting a little stale. Fact is, your average SC and WC3 player are barely distinguishable in skills, and at the upper echelon of play, both games require extremely fast APM. WC3 players are well over 300 average oftentimes. Does SC require more? Yup... but let's not disregard the fact that many of those clicks are compensating for a poor UI. You won't win this argument at TL. To us, WC3 is like tic tac toe and Starcraft is like Starcraft.

And thus, the APM displayed in the game should be multiplied by 1.33, not 1.35 or 1.38 ...

The APMs are just about equal although WC3 doesn't really have any players with like 400 APM that SC has a couple of. However, they don't really do better than the players with 250-350 APM(majority), so that um doesn't really matter, and WC3 players have high enough APM as well. Yep that's about it.

BW APM _________ = SC2 Speed x SC2 APM BW Speed (indirect variation) From what I've gathered. BW Speed is 1.2x and SC2 is 1.38x, or 1.4x. This formula makes sense in my case, my 200 BW apm translates to about 120 in SC2, and is right according to my replays. Can someone else compare their APM's in both games and see if this is true?

Which is why I believe these to be SC1 stats.

For all that matters, APM could be a 5 point meter that had 1 APM - lacking 2 APM - Moderate 3 APM - Decent 4 APM - Amazing 5 APM - Over-sufficient APM by itself means nothing, you need a point of reference. So change the the 1-2-3-4-5 gauge to what APM you think is required at Fastest speed. I don't particularly have any problem with this analysis. I just want to point out that APM means Actions per Minute. So if it's going to be called Actions per minute, it should be the number of actions of 60 seconds.

It's just that right now, those 60 seconds aren't being counted in real-time seconds :/ I honestly don't find a problem with the current method of APM counting as long as it can be categorized like how Tdelamay described. Because at the end of the day, APM is just a number that makes you feel better (or worse) about yourself.

It's like those space arcade 90s games that have 100000 options you can choose from, because at that time they thought more options = better game. One of hte reasons why they have so many speed options is probably to let the casual gamer whos' just picking up SC2 for the first time w/out much RTS experience be able to learn the ropes easier.
