EDIT: I seem to be the only one on irc having gotten one of these, i checked TL irc chan and some other starcraft chans, nobody seems to have gotten one. Anyways, the screenshot i posted earlier is from my own personal email(i blacked out receiver not to get spammed with crap). There is no real way to proove that im right, except that i have a happy friend. I would never troll people about this, as i had to wait 2 weeks for 2nd wave to hit before getting in myself, i just thought it would be nice to let people know that they should tell their friends etc. to check their beta mails IF they already have beta access. | ||

So, this must mean the wipe is really near - I mean, it seems pointless to invite a bunch of people then wipe their accounts right? They probaibly get there statistics using the stats on the account. To review new aggregate stats all the accounts need to be wiped first then review the result with the partners they just invited. so i does make sense | ||

With FriendKeys, I really think ppl will give the Key to ppl who really will play A LOT and I think most ppl will actually give the Key to a friend. I mean: When my Friends would find out I've gotten a Betakey and sold it on eBay while knowing they all would kill for one, they'd understandably punch me in the face. ^^' I'll give the Key to my brother or a Friend and everyone that's not a total douche with no Friends will probably do the same. xD Way better than handing out Keys to random WoW-players anyways. -.-° | ||

Anyway, that being said, the obvious reaction from the community to a guy withholding an invite is obviously going to be one of outrage. Just keep in mind where MorroW is coming from, but it doesn't mean you have to accept it either | ||

That said, you should sell it if you can find someone who pays a lot, but else you should give it to some BW player who you played with before and doesent have one. We'll get this sorted out, no worries. Seems to be that one batch of the keys was not activated. Hang on a bit and it should be valid. Yes, it's a known issue with some keys. We're looking into the issue as we speak. In the meanwhile you could tell your friend to try to enter only 26 digits of the key, this means that he has to leave out the very last digit as he probably received a 27 digit key. Yeah, frustrating is good word to explain situation. I just can't pass over that Blizzard sent "Friend invite" to current beta testers when there's so much people around who deserved beta more then 90% current beta testers (I am not counting myself btw, I didn't deserve nothin', I just badly want to play it.), it's kinda unfair even if they did this for a good reason. They could at least do this by sending 1/2 keys as "Friend invite", and other half to Opt-in people.. blah. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, me rage! The entire opt-in scenario is flawed, mainly because there is no differientiation of users other than system specs, in order to filter out the people who actually contribute feedback and useful balance changes, and the people who couldn't give less of a shit about anything. Seeing long-term Starcraft fans, and even previous useful beta-testers getting the shaft, when they could actually be supplying Blizzard with vital feedback on their newest popular game, brings somewhat a tear or two to my eyes. And now the said people with keys, will get another one to throw away at their useless friends or sell them at market price on ebay. In the meantime, people, like myself, who are ready to give an honest look at the beta and contribute some much needed testing and feedback gets left in the dust. yea yea, I get all that with the "we'll just add more keys" bullcrap, and we need serverload testing, but seriously, stop pretending people like WoW dudes, actually contribute anything other than one more spot the rest of us won't be putting to some good use. //rant over Congrats to all who got their keys tho :D! | ||

My point is that the people with keys should give them out as soon as possible so that more people will be allowed access to the beta. Blizzard makes good games, I (as well as I hope everyone else) plan on purchasing it when it comes out, so why should I have to content myself with youtube videos in the meantime? Why should everyone not lucky enough to have been picked randomly? I played SC1 and loved it, I have opted in, but still no luck. Everyone with extra keys should think about this. | ||

Players would like the SC2 beta key distribution to be focused towards getting the most players in as possible, as quickly as possible, to increase their own chances. Blizzard wants people who will make good beta testers. I can see how top-level players would make better beta testers than people in the lower leagues (copper, bronze) for instance. If highly skilled players are more likely to have other highly skilled friends waiting for an invite, then Blizzard can get better beta testers through the invite a friend method than by randomly selecting opt-ins. I played SC since BW was released, although never competitively, played quite a bit of matchmaking in WCIII and TFT, played and finished Diablo II. Out of all of them I have always like SC the best (followed by WCIII), and I have literally been following StarCraft II and lurking about various forums for years like many other people before it was ever announced. However, all of those games were my brothers and are hiding out somewhere in storage at our parents' house so neither of us can find them or use the keys. I happen to own WoW, although I've never gotten past level 38 in the game so I am by no means a "WoW player" but that is the only key out of all of the games that I have attached to my B.net account. To make a long story short, I think I deserve a chance to get a key too, although I'm certain my situation is quite unique. Of course there are many WoW players who couldn't care less about SC, but don't generalize! Speaking of this though, I really do wonder if the chances of getting a key are better if you have more games attached to your account. My WoW account hasn't even been active in over a year at least, probably longer. I've actually been considering buying either the SC or WCIII Battlechest lately to maybe help my chances. I'd probably get the WCIII one since SC2 is so close to release, it'd be pointless to buy the original. | ||

I bought Starcraft & BW for myself and 2 friends, WC3 & TFT I bought 3 times for myself because I kept losing the keys after formatting my pc and I bought an extra 5 copies of TFT and gave them away in competitions in the early days for TFT to promote its adoption amoung my clan and friends. WoW I paid for 2 accounts, player transfers etc. Considering ppl who don't even have SC in there battle.net account are getting in are getting in it's a kick in the teeth but what can you do other then be sad. Annoyingly i'll have to buy 3 copies of SC2 1 for me for Europe 1 for US and 1 for my nephew. And yet I don't get in beta while I have so much free time being jobless and bored all day | ||

Yeh they can't know but the friends invites kind of means they stopped caring about pc specs anymore as the invites can go to anyone which is why it'd be nice if they gave priority to ppl with sc & wc3 in there accounts so they know they are into rts's at least. Worrying about the low end players isn't that important as they will have the challenges and casual leagues and ranks to help with that problem imo. You don't get one just for being in the beta at anytime, there were certain points where Blizzard sent waves of friend invites to those in the beta.
