I LOVE YOU!
i can't see how anyone is arguing against Sean, if people wanna support him(and E-SPORT!!!! dun dun dun) and donate, Donate, if not, don't :D i mean it can't be that hard
i hope everyone will try and help out and make it happen, we all talked about Day9 as E-sport Ambasador, well know is his(and ours) chance!

whats the funday monday for this monday?? did he say yet? I missed the show...
|
I couldn't stop smiling and licking my lips while watching....
|
Day[9] mentions that he would like us to donate our time, however he seems very hard to get a hold of. I have worked in various online communities as well as professional as a web developer and would love to help out in any way I can to bring E-Sports to life. I have PMed Sean here at TL however I can only assume he gets hundreds of PM's a day and probably doesn't even check them.
Perhaps (If you read this Sean) there could be a helpout@day9.tv email address where people could specifically email to offer their services, that way he could hopefully filter out those emails from the other assorted emails he receives every day.

can mutalisk go into nydus?
|
Day gets me all giddy inside thinking about what 2011 could hold.

thanks, whats the email you send to him if you got an awesome game to share?

I believe it is feedback - AT - day9.tv

I don't get why you guys are all so mad at Day9 asking for donations so he can live.
Everything he EARNS will be PUT back into the E-sports scene.

agreed. I'm an IT guy. I've got servers, disk space, and bandwidth (along with some skills), and would love to help him out.. but I dont know what he needs, or a good way to actually reach him to offer my services.

Yes you can say like day9 that ppl dont have to donate but day9 have for so long been a guy who didnt like to ask for donation and then today he asks for donation and wants to live on it. I looks like he perfer to ask for money now that working to get it.
Also not long ago day9 said he was looking for a sponsor for his dailies and now he says he got offers but dont want to take them as he dont want to "sell out". I bet none would mind if he had a little sponsor logo in his dailes if that helps his income.
When day9 goes to events he for sure works hard but in the other time I dont feel like his realy that busy compare to a "Normal job" since he said his dailes takes him about 2 hours each time. I dont understand why he dont also tells us some more about all the stuff he realy wants to do with the money then just saying its going to "e-sport".

Same here Damen, work in IT and has pretty sure i could help out in some way, if nothing else because i have a lot of time on my hands.
But from what i understood he was pushing out hiw own website soon where theese things could get organised?

It's our job as publishers, content creators, writers, editors, streamers, producers, tournament organizers, managers, etc, to create revenue streams, not to ask for donations. Blip.tv, Justin.tv, uStream, YouTube - these services are specifically designed to make money for content creators, and it's the job of those content creators to make it work.
Husky, HD & TotalBiscuit are good examples of what I'm talking about, all working full-time as content creators (to my knowledge). Furthermore, that is also the specific job of sponsors. They are designed to fund content creators and networks so that they are economically viable for all sides. It is entirely possible to work out a scenario with a sponsor that does not impede on the content or delivery. There may be small nuances that you'd have to adjust to, but nothing out of the ordinary for the situation. We've lauded sponsors for years for entering the eSports space - why would it be any different for a talk show?
Maybe it's just me, but I feel like donations are reserved for someone falling on rough times/had a horribly damaging event happen to them, or to charities such as Child's Play and Get Well Gamers.
There have been many people who have poured their soul into eSports/Professional Gaming for a long, long time now. This should be no different.
Have to agree with Slasher here. I mean props to Day9 for all his work and passion but he has the #1 Starcraft2 show on the planet and is one of the most beloved caster in the scene. Cmon. His name value alone and the networks around him should give him enough possibilities to support him in a very stable way.
I respect his thought to put sponsor money into E-Sport and donations for his private life but he is as much E-Sport as the tournaments, I see no reason to rely on his viewership's money. I just don't think it's the smartest choice. When you reach a certain status, you can treat business as business without people screaming "sell-out", I'm sure people would even say he deserves it. Slasher up there said it best with "It is entirely possible to work out a scenario with a sponsor that does not impede on the content or delivery."
Everyone knows Opra has a shitton of money, people don't care. It's what you do with your time that matters for people. How Day9 makes his money is none of my business, I just think he shouldn't life of the pockets of his viewers. That's my view, some of you might disagree and want to donate and I respect that.

... Did you see his face when he asked? He cringed. He doesn't like it as much as anyone else likes it but I swear to god that everyone who makes this assumption is blind.
All the money he EARNS or WORKS to get will be PUT into E-sports.

Just going to say here that Day9 has literally given money back into eSports.
Have we all forgotten his Wednesday Night Fight?
Gosh I wish he could pull a Husky and live on YouTube sponsorships alone, but Husky has 361,420 subscribers and Day9 has only 101,736 - less than a third.
