Looking at strategies that took years to develop and ways to translate them to SC2 would be something I personally would love to see Day do. Strategies that took years to develop are usually because of gradual discoveries that allowed people to refine the builds, then there is a sudden "oh, I actually CAN do this now". Also, I dont think that there is very much (strategically) that can really translate to SC2. The same fundamentals apply, but what you are looking for, if I am interpreting this correctly, cant really be done. Yeah, but it could be cool and educational if he did a daily with How BW evolved. Especially regarding the countering of some (at the time) OP strategies. It could really put some things into perspective You know, he has done something like this a few times, in a few places. The podcast he did on sidestepping featured some discussion of how protoss FE and 5 hatch hydra evolved. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=89581I feel like I've gotten more out of these to improve my SC2 game than the dailies sometimes, mostly because they're so focused and the writing(speaking?) style is a little more coherent than some of his recent work. Also, if you go on blip TV and look at the old dailies, they covered most of what you are talking about, it doesn't take some gigantic, magical leap to apply the basic RTS knowledge learned in BW to SC2, despite being different games.
I don't know, I've tried playing around with Collosi/Templar drops (like in BW where you would drop reavers/templar) and the idea is funny, though fundamentally much harder to execute in SC2. I almost want to get 4-5 collosi and warp prisms and just drop a whole bunch of collosi on an expansion and wipe out the workers in a second, reel them back in and fly away.

Unfair to STX yes, but Day's point still stands.

I just had to make this after seeing the latest newbie tuesday ^^

How about a Funday Monday where you play as Protoss and are not allowed to overlap any of your pylons psi fields?

Please, day9 do some dailys about GSL sets...

Copyrighted content. Not to mention that the replay-files aren't even available, so he'd have to use the VODs and mute Tastosis. So I don't see it happening.

Yup and he would get in trouble for streaming vods sense your supposed to play . Otherwise I bet he would no doubt about it.

WTF is this!? I nearly wet myself laughing. (Edited to remove video embedding in quote)

Has anyone been having issues skipping forward in the dailies lately? For some reasons the blip.tv player just continually loads when ever I click a time to skip to nowadays(whereas it used to work fine for me). Also, it used to let me change streaming mode (pre-load or just stream) when I paused before, but no longer allows me to do that.

what song did day 9 play as he was thinking at the end of D9D #205? does anyone know? i loved it.

Redubbing with his own analysis would clearly be a transformative work which is fair use. That said, he'd doesn't have access to the actual replays so he'd be limited to looking at the same things on the screen. The DMCA being what it is it the bar is set really low for copyright holders to force the removal of content while restoring said content, even if it's non-offending content and clearly so, is much harder. Day9 also doesn't have access to a cabal of high powered lawyers while gomtv almost certainly does and, as the old saying goes, possession of a cabal of high powered lawyers in nine tenths of the law.

anyone else slightly annoyed by people making their own funday monday suggestions. have you even thought this one out? wouldn't be possible in high level play since 90% of your base wouldn't be in your base. don't mean to flame, but day9 has done a great job of making us try silly stuff that can actually be used to create new strategies and get people to test stuff they haven't tested before.
-no queens was brilliant because made zerg expand or try new rushes. adding queens later would have made the builds even stronger!
-no rine/marauder/tanks made people use those nice harass units all game long + nukes!
-carrier before expansion set up the tech for carriers before you had an expansion!
-fail no overlapping pylons. you literally cannot go above 40 supply until you take your expansion and are entirely vulnerable the rest of the game.

Providing commentary on muted VODs isn't any different than what he did for Dailies 0-80ish

Totally disagree day9 does this stuff for fun. Most of the time he is surprised at the number of people winning and most of the videos are no where near high level play. I too thought the pylons thing was a bad idea. But then i just realised the genius of it. He would have to scatter pylons EVERYWHERE across the map!!! You would be so mobile with blink / chargalots and could warp in almost anywhere. Don't build the pylons near each other but across the map and the idea is brilliant!

Would be better to have something 'can not engage combats outside your own psi-fields (other then killing off outranging units like collosus and brood lords). That way, it forces turtling, or aggressive pyloning (expensive creep).
The first funday monday, forced people to think outside the box, and making up builds that somehow could actually work in a different setting other then up to gold leauge in ladder, but killing teammates in correct order in FFA does nothing for that, doesn't come up with anything other then massive turtling. Same with 1 unit only in 3v3/4v4, allthough, this has some entertainment value to it (medivacs healing the ultralisks just plowing through enemy lines). I watch the show to be a better gamer, and see how small subtile moves actually turns out to be greatly benefitial for one of the players when there is something I don't even think of (like summoning mules to the middle mineral patch because that is safer [Mentioned in whatever cup was yesterday]). So seeing Sean making a fool of himself is not really fun for other then the really fanboys, which are as narrow minded as general fanboys. Just because it's day9 who does it, it have to be good, nomatter what he does.
Yes, I know Sean has a really tight schedule, but isn't critism what makes people better?

Who are you to speak for everyone "not a fanboy?" I find the funday mondays and the likes really fun, and I'm no avid Day9 viewer. Also, criticism doesn't always make you better. Constructive feedback might, but since a person in Day9's position gets tons of both positive and negative feedback whatever he does, it can't be easy to sort through all the garbage to find what is really worth listening to. In the end he should to what makes him happy and not go out of his way to please every single viewer. I don't think many would want to listen to a Day9 that have lost his passion for what he does.

With regards to 2v2 strategies in which "one player pushes while the other player techs"... of course that's not viable; one player can't push alone against two.
But!
It's very possible for both players to push while one of them techs without pause. Terran in particular can tech very quickly while still fielding a supporting marine force for the other player's push.
Tech is interesting in that there's a limited amount of funds you can sink into it at once, and that it forces you to build unit-producing structures along the way. If you're Protoss, and you're rushing to Colossus? You can probably afford a few gateway units and an Immortal to support a 4 warpgate push. If you're Terran, and you're rushing cloaked banshees? Pump marines or marine/hellion with your extra minerals. If you're Zerg? I don't know any useful tech rushes for Zerg, but if you're powering economy, a small number of banelings is very strong and very larva-cheap.
You end up with a push that's strong enough to join armies, and strong enough to keep your opponents from powering too hard (though obviously if they both commit fully to units, you'll be on the defensive), with a solid tech followup. Not bad for a game plan that sounded impossible.

more like 15 seconds earlier, and by the ime the scan goes away units could have been moved to intercept. Though jinro has a harder time to remain omnipresent as he dosnt have scan or positions to place overlords at. ;/
