although medivacs are gonna be strong, the cost i think supplents the boost it gains. Also, a tech lab on the starport makes it quite a pain to actually research so i dont think you will be seeing the upgrade until the late game and because of the timewarp of the oracle, it will not be to strong. Mech upgrades with air could be too good but we will have to see but i LOVE the Thor change. zerg changes are all resonable. and not much to say about the protoss changes other then, mutas will be good but phoenixes will be better at killing them.

I think the point of the Medivac change was so that since there's strong incentive to get the Medivac upgrade now, and the set up to get Ravens for the late-game isn't so dramatic like lots of players were annoyed by. You could get 1 HotS Medivac that almost works as 2 WoL Medivacs while switching your tech. into Ravens. I like this kind of thinking, so we should see if it works out.

All that's missing are buffs to BCs and Carriers. I was also holding out for a return of the Warhound as a mech spellcaster. I guess it will never happen now.

Another major thing is with binding cloud or fungal Ultras are going to completely obliterate bio now :p

It's basically for countering Broodlords I assume


But without Splash it seems kinda worse . You basically need 1:1 Broodlord-Raven for this to be effective. I mean the new Thor will be ALOT better against Broods with the change but the new HSM i'm not so sure it's any better or even just as good as before.

New ability: Emergency Thrusters
Speed boost that increases movement speed and acceleration to 4.25 for 8 seconds. 20 second cooldown.
The Medivac’s Caduceus Reactor upgrade at the Starport Tech Lab:
Health restored per second from 9 to 15.
Energy cost reduced from 3 health per 1 energy to 5 health per 1 energy.

Previously, 2 lings attacking a marine at equal upgrades would do 5.4dps. Now the marine will tank both of them while healing. If you crash into his army of marines with some medivacs over you need 3 or more lings of surface area per marine TO DO ANY DAMAGE AT ALL.

Im not complaining in light of zvt imbalance previously, but DAMN, this is probably the biggest buff in the history of sc2, this will be incredibly underestimated, its almost completely game breaking in every matchup

feedback on medivacs will be essential in PvT, and in ZvT roach hydra is just overpowering marinemarauder right now in HotS in terms of survival ability, even there are some swarmhosts to buffer a lot of damage and dps too.

The things I'm concerned with now:

DT rush. It was already good enough, now it will be so easy to transition into an Arhcon/Charge push.

Medivacs. End-game XvT is hard enough already due to the fact that if you don't kill the Medivacs, just a few bio units can just sit under medivacs and never die without huge amounts of damage, but the extra healing is just going to be OFF THE WALLS now.

wow, was Zerg so OP in HotS before this patch? this patch reads as a huge protoss and terran buff and i'm not sure if zerg is buffed at all (given the infestor nerf). it depends on how useful hydras are by now, i guess...

i like this patch though, finally some changes!

You forget that the medivac is money and supply. 2 lings shouldnt able to beat 1 marine backed with a medivac. In BW 1 medic could outheal a lurker hitting a marine for a long time.

Isn't that Thor's original anti-air attack is 24 (+24 light) damage? Now it's 24 flat damage, so it's a nerf to the anti-air????

I will miss the impact that tempests had in pvp i think it will be a lot harder to make tempest viable now.
