Ive been experiencing TERRIBLE laggs since the last patch launched about 10 days ago. with terrible i mean 3k ping and 1 spike every 2 secs, sometimes even 1 spike/sec. I asked the last 30 guys i faced on ladder, and almost no one seems to have these issues, just a very few.. makes me very sad im one of these unlucky persons :-(
wol still does run laggfree, even on the NA server. i do have all chat programs closed, tried to reinstall, i basically tried everything, nothing seems to help

Im in Australia and the beta server runs as well or better for me than WoL (I play WoL on NA too). The only part of the game that has any unresponsiveness, lag or delays is the terrible battle.net interface. In-game is fine tho. The only time there is lag in game and I have asked my opponents where they are from they are usually UK or other locations which are too far away.

TLDR: Is the beta server screwed up, or is the problem on my end?
Today has been extremely frustrating for me. Every game I tried to play gave me the worst lag spikes I've ever experienced, the first two of which, I quit out of for being unplayable (thank God for unranked). The remaining games I toughed out, but was eventually dropped from each. I asked the other players if they were experiencing lag, and was told no, so I thought it might be my wireless adapter going south. I borrowed my father's adapter, and while I had a relatively smooth early-mid game, but right when my macro was hitting it's stride, and I was leaping ahead, I get dropped again. So far I've played about 7 or 8 games where I've been dropped.
So, Is it on my end, or is it a blizzard problem that I don't have to worry about fixing at all?

I dont think its about regions here. I spoke to many guys from germany and just a very minor percentage of players seems to have this issue, disregardless regions.

I think it might be the same issue as we've already seen in WOL where a new action needs to be loaded, causing lag. Consequent actions of the same kind doesn't seem to cause the lag. I don't get how this problem came back when it was fixed in WOL TBH.....

hi, im from europe and hots is basically unplayable for me. I got to leave 1 game out of 2 because of lag spikes every seconds, and sometimes the game is in slow motionn like very low fps. Its the same for a lot of my friends, so we just dont play beta...

I think the only possibility to get this problem fixed sooner is if we all do post in EU/US beta forums. There is a thread about it but only a handfull people said that they have that problem. That being said blizzard wont invest time into fixing this if just such a low amount of people do have those issues.

I'm seeing some posts talking about FPS issues. You guys need to be very specific when talking about lag. English is not my native language but in French we have 2 distinct words for the following situations :
- Lag : having a latency after each input. It's a network problem. It could be from you or from the server. In addition to high delay, you can have some spike issues when lagging (the game total freeze for 1 or 2 sec then trying to catch up). The game is still fluid (high fps), but has a delay when you order an unit to move for example.
- "ça rame" (I would translate it something along "it's shuttering !") : it's a hardware / game issue resulting low FPS (frame per second), the game is not fluid at all and it's very annoying an hard to play because of the missing frames.
HoTS beta was always laggy (high latency) for me, I don't understand those people having "lag" since the new patch, are we talking about the same thing ?
For those having some lag (latency lag)
You can try to ping the server.
Windows Key + R. Type cmd In the console, type tracert 12.129.236.254 The last line without time out will be your ping to the HoTS beta server.
You can compare it to your latency on EU Wings of Liberty : tracert 213.248.127.130
I have 35-40ms latency on WoL EU I have 350~ms latency on HoTS Beta (hosted in the US)
Playing with such ping is very hard, I can't wait for March 12th.

I did do that. When im super lucky, i do also have the 350ms you mentioned. But most times i have about 3000-4000(!) ms ping in addition to spikes. Only on the hots beta server, not on the NA wol server though. My network works fine, i did check it multiple times. When the ping is so super high i cant even ping the server with cmd.

It could also come from your Internet Provider or a routing issue when connecting to this server...
Back in December, Blizzard experimented something on the HoTS server : http://eu.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/6160657428
I was able to play some ladder games this evening and I didn't notice lag at all, I didn't know the server's IP back then so I couldn't ping but I played in the same conditions of Wings of Liberty. And the feedback from the other players were also very positive as you can see.
We still don't know why this was a temporary fix, Blizzard never communicated additional info about this since they concluded the test... Strange...

But is it even possible that is is my internet provider when i do have a 4k ping + spikes in hots (= na server) while having a low ping without spikes on the wol (disregardless if its NA or EU) servers at the >same< time?
That brings me to the second question. If its the hots beta-server, why do only a such small amount of people do have those horrible horrible issues?
It doesnt matter from what point i look at it, i dont understand it and it doesnt make sense to me :-(
The only thing i can say for sure that i and the other people who have this issue do just have it since the last patch came out about 2 weeks ago. Still it doesnt make more sense to me

In my case, I always had 350ms with some spike when playing against american players in ladder.
It's very strange that I don't lag as much against european players in custom games or ladder because the server is still in the US, maybe it's using a nearest game server when 2 players from EU are playing together ? It's very confusing.
Your 3000-4000ms spikes are indeed very strange... are you sure you didn't had lag as much before the patch ? You played enough game before the patch to be sure ?

Yes i did play hundrets of games before the lagg. I am 100% sure. It also doesnt matter against who i play. I have those issues against EU players, german players, NA and KR players.
Its really horrible to micro with that. 3-4 real seconds means unable to dodge storm or anything else. And due the spikes i have to recheck the egg every time when i wanna make an overlord, because i dont know if my command was sent when i do have a spike. I literally have to make double the overlords than i need in mid and lategame to not get supply block. Its hilarious

Wow it's even worst than me. I feel you man. Did you check the Beta Bug Report forums ? http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/5671339/
Sadly it's a read-only forum for us, european players but you might find some people having the same issue and Blizzard techs are active in this forum.

Yes there is already a thread, a few days ago just a few people have posted but luckily the number is getting higher, so maybe they will work on it soon.

I hate the fact that the word "lag" includes boths latency lag and FPS/Perf lag, it's 2 whole different things.

I know.. the original poster described it right, but people who are facing FPS drops are also posting in this, unluckily :-(
As it is a post patch issue i hope that it might be fixed with the next patch. I dont wanna play like that the next 6 weeks until release.. However i have to continue playing because i need to stick to my practise schedule, which makes it only more frustrating.

I had this problem since new patch. I launch hots play 1 game fine and the next one begin to have horrible pikes and my ping is ridiculously high
If you are in the same case , I can advice you to quit and reconnect the game after each of your game. It actually works very well.
