Its a skill to optimally saturate your bases and to always have exacly 3 guys on gas. To actually master that is pretty fucking hard. I'm masters and can say I absolutely have not mastered that. Now every idiot can saturate their bases optimally, because it got fucking easy.

Also the fact that basically everybody would have considered that feature a cheat in Wings of Liberty should be enough reason to remove that fast....really fast.

im pretty sure i could saturate my base in silver league, just highlight ur mineral line then click both geysers doesnt take more than a few seconds

Sure thats why I added in optimally. I'm pretty sure you will have quite many games where you might have 2 or 4 drones in gas for quite some time. Or have a base over- or undersaturated slightly. Won't ever happen again, because Blizzard takes care of that.

Not to sound rude, but I would argue that if you can't do something as simple count optimal worker saturation at each base as you make them, you do not deserve to move up.

Just as a note - none of these changes are confirmed for release, and a couple, such as the 'simple command card' and 'can't control unit' warning probably won't go live - at least, not for multiplayer. Some of the UI options we're looking at could be used to help simplify gameplay for Arcade games, for example.

It is a beta, after all, and we're taking the opportunity to experiment a bit. None of the stuff you'll see filtering out of it is a sure thing.

Just wanted to throw that out there.

Have you given any reason why they should keep it? Dont think so. Its a matter of taste anyways.

Sc2 is already quite easier than Broodwar macrowise. But making you see how many workers you got mining at any time is just such a major change that should be thought through.

In my opinion it completely negates an importan aspect of the current macro mechanics. That splitting your worker in a balanced fashion between your bases is required to be good at this game.

I think that changing this would be an awful decision. It just makes playing a lot less important which is a bad thing competitive wise.

The gas thing should never be an issue and makes me question your rank. You are aware that a worker count in gas is already in effect, right? You simply click the extractor and it tells you. The only time you see a pro make this error is if they are macroing away from their base, in which case this change would affect nothing because they still wouldn't see it.

I seriously dislike the worker counter thing, and I hope there is a way to turn it off. While I no longer play WoL, when I did(mid-high masters), it took about 1/3 of a second to box all the mineral mining workers at a base, and see if it's roughly 16.

Also from watching drewbie's stream, swarm hosts are pretty strong. The amount of pressure they put on is actually pretty insane against defensively positioned units.

Dude that shit is not hard for like the first 15 minutes. But in a TvZ for example where often times hell breaks loose with drops etc. where you will lose workers etc. and you macro of 4-5 bases it is fucking easy to miss these things and to not be optimally saturated at every point in the game.

Blizzard basically removes a potential mistake a player can make which is generally a bad thing.

No, those games are far and few between, I can't remember last time I fucked up on gas. It takes half a second to notice mistake

Does anyone have images of the new maps? There's one called Akilon Wastes (I think) which actually looks surprisingly decent.

Edit: never mind, split/unpathable center, rocks blocking the easier to defend choice of 3rd, almost impossible to FFE properly (aka typical blizzard map)...

Edit2: the aforementioned rocks actually make it possible to FFE, it's less bad than I thought. Probably the best of the new maps (which really isn't saying much lol)
