I didn't find marines necessary at all, I only used them to get the research stuff. Depot walls on ramp, spam tanks on either side, use drill on immortals. A turret ring kept the warp prisms at bay. | ||

Float a barracks, kill all the protoss with the mining laser. The dig is depressingly easy no matter what  Edit: I DID run through most of the campaign trying to do it with mech. Unfortunately a LOT of the missions are horribly gas-capped so thats why marines are so strong. | ||
