The ONLY achievement I'm missing is Lost Viking Gold. I got to 475,000 points with 5 bombs and 2 lives left, then blew it in a flurry of moments of madness. Almost tore my hair out, haven't mustered the will to have another bash yet.
This was so painful, and also me today. 492k, with just a few moments to go, blew up twice. :C
I nerd raged harder than I've ever nerd raged before!

Anyone got a lost vikings save? It's hard.

What so you can cheat for something that gives no actual bonus?
It's actually really easy if you use your bombs correctly and stay on side missiles.

I will have to say that side missiles are good. Bosses die pretty quickly with them equipped since you can damage while dodging and you get more score on the regular levels with a near or at 100% kill rate on all types of enemies. It is also easier to play with them since you get fewer shots fired at you when the regular enemies die faster.

Reminds me of my run, also last achievement, I'll post the screenshots to ease the trauma
Alright, desperate - no extra life and four bombs. I'm pretty sure this is over...

Plasma is absolute CRAP on anything except terratron.
For non-bosses, you get a fucktonne more points with side missiles, reducing how many levels you have to do to get the achiev For the carrier, side missiles clear out the interceptors before it starts firing, so you don't have to worry about clutter at all For leviathan, you have to be dodging up the sides so much, as well as it charging to the bottom, that side missiles probably does more damage over-all (when he charges to the bottem, sit beside it and you'll keep hitting it for 100% of the time it's down there with 2x shots)
Terratron it is not worth swapping for, especially if you're having trouble, just get side missiles and focus on dodging and you'll win eventually without losing a life, no need to risk yourself by staying in the middle...
Also, anyone who's done terran 5-7 (levels 15 18 21) and beyond know that it's impossible without side missiles, as the wraith swarms would just completely overwhelm you.

I don't think this should be any rationale for supporting side missiles. People are only trying to get the achievement, not play this game until they shit their brain out.
I got my achievement using Plasma, and without even trying got around 95% unit kills after every level. Using side missles just to grant an extra 5% points from regular units isn't a huge bonus at all.
Besides, you get 2 seeking missles having 2 drones active at all times anyway to kill any small units like wraiths or scourge. Having a huge boost of firepower to focus down bigger units like swarm guardians, battle cruisers, phoenixes, and especially bosses is a much bigger plus for me.
Bosses and special units are the biggest threat throughout the whole game anyway, so getting through them that much faster with Plasma greatly reduces your chances of dying, or even losing a few drones or having to use a few bombs that you didn't need to otherwise.
Also, it's ALWAYS worth using a bomb if you think you are about to get hit instead of trying to dodge. Get your 2 Plasma (or side), 2 drones, then start stocking bombs. I especially liked spamming using bombs on Terratron so I could spend half as much time dodging, and twice as much time focusing him down with Plasma.
For those that weren't aware, WASD keys work for this game as well. No need to bind them, they are already active. This can seriously help those that are familiar with FPS games that use WASD keys. Just stick your right hand on SPACE instead of using your left thumb. Made it light years easier for me since I was used to playing SOF2.

Ok, I managed to remove the dependancy issue of my FastSpace program. The updated version is now on google code and should be usable by any windows user even without that stupid msvcr100.dll: http://code.google.com/p/fastspace/downloads/list To use it:
1. Start the .exe, an empty command prompt should appear.
2. Press F1 at any time to toggle the space bar emulation.
3. When done, close the program.
No installation/uninstallation required.

I'm not 100% sure about this, since I already have the achievements and didn't bother to thoroughly test it, but I think that the interceptors that the carrier boss spawns give you points when you kill them.
Theoretically, you could farm points at this boss by not using drones and focusing on taking out the interceptors without damaging the boss, could possibly do it forever since it's such an easy fight. If you're having issues maybe you could try this?

Thank you so much opossum. You made my life a lot easier and saved my keyboard spacebar.

Finally got around to attempting this achievement and did pretty well the first few times but couldn't quite make it all the way through level 3. After reading the excellent suggestions on this forum, I found myself making leaps and bounds of progress. Eventually I beat level 9 and went over the 500k threshold. What was weird is that there was no achievement notice. I checked my friend list and for whatever reason I was disconnected from battle net.

Even though I was connected to the internet it wouldn't connect to battle net. After playing a few more waves and intentionally dying there was still no connection and still no achievement. I closed the game and reopened it and it reconnected to battle net fine. Joy.
Guess I need to give up another hour of my life.

I was pretty frustrated after spamming space for like an hour and die just before getting gold, but then I remembered about Joy2key. Thank god for that. Played it with my PS2 controller and putting it to spam space by just holding a button. Everything was so easy :D.

Im sure someone else have already mentioned it, but use a macro to spam spacebar for you (I just used the built in macro of G11 keyboard) ez game.

Opossum, you're awesome. That little macro/exe/program/whatever works great.

I did it on my second try using side missles, 2 drones, and the rest bombs. Don't get too stingy with your bombs. You have them for a reason.
I also farmed about 50k off of the Carrier bosses interceptors. Just get in an area where you aren't hitting him and kill the interceptors as they spew out. It takes forever but it is essentially free points.

Plasma is really the experts-only weapon imo. Yes it is "better" and kills bosses faster... but it's not the best option for people having difficulty with the game.
The spreadfire keeps you a lot safer, kills a lot more things all over the screen so that you're much safer... all you have to focus on is dodging attacks and not getting hit. You don't have to think about positioning yourself to shoot enemies at all.
Plasma does more damage on bosses, but the zerg and protoss bosses are really easy patterns so you don't need help on those. Against Terratron I'm dodging to the side so often (and landing spreadfire shots while doing this) that I think the plasma gun's bonus damage isn't a huge increase in overall damage done.
And it would just really distract me to have to focus on getting underneath the bosses if I want to hurt them.
