How do people have trouble with PtS?

I always felt like the "micro" missions were entire levels of difficulty easier than the macro ones.

I feel exactly the opposite.

If you make enough stuff, all the macro levels are pretty easy with some minimal micro.

edit: Again, I'm not on Char yet. I've done everything else though.

You can't make more stuff in the micro levels. I'm pretty decent at making stuff. I'm not so hot at getting the most out of it all the time.

I'm with kzn, I find the micro levels to be a complete joke(Belly of the Beast might be the most entertaining mission in the game though, like a competition with yourself to do ridiculous things with the hero skills). Supernova frustrates me to no end though, and I haven't tried All-In on brutal yet. I am far from a plat player or anything though and my macro is definitely not great so that could explain a lot.

I don't think you are really alone on this. The micro missions were certainly much easier than the other ones.

The main problem with the macro missions that are hard is the lack of expansions. Very difficult on levels like Utter Darkness and All In to really change what you are doing purely due to the lack of resources.

how the hell you get a 160 army in supernova? more shockingly, how does ur bio ball not melt against colossi?

I did something similar on Supernova, most of the collosi the enemy has are hallucinations and the real ones don't really do much if you have enough medics.

I had upgraded medics for the mission and combat shields etc so I guess this made it easier to use bio.

Same because i played more dota then sc1 haha anyways when it's micro i know dam well it's with in my ability to do this level as it's built in to do it with these set units. No macro guess working and defending a base etc.

WTF, whats with so many people finding engine of destruction so hard? I found it hella easy. I just defended with merc tanks and a few turrets, had SCVs following Odin from afar and I would go around sniping shit with mass Wraiths from 2 port.

Like most levels, Supernova is easily beatable with marine + medic. Just mass those fuckers.

All-in was the hardest for me. Engine of destruction was difficult until I realised that tanks into mass marines + medic was the way to go.

I didn't really have too much of an issue with anything until I got to 'all in'... faaaaawk... It got so bad that I had to distract Kerrigan with my buildings so she wouldn't blow past everyone and destroy the world. :|

Really appreciate Blizz though... Thanking a special someone in the credits -- http://yfrog.com/0yj7sfj

Welcome to the Jungle is super easy even with almost no tech units... just buy all the upgrades for marines and medics, build a couple or three or five rax with reactors, and spam M&M balls. I tried screwing around with goliaths the first time, failed, said screw it, floated my factory, and went old school M&M with all upgrades... I killed every enemy rather than mess around with terazine. M&M is fast enough to stop sealing attempts, very flexible against all units, and doesn't take all the bonus damage from rays and stalkers. And buying the upgrades is worth it because you'll use M&M or MMM in a lot of the later missions.

All In was the hardest for me without a doubt. I had to restart multiple times until I got off my ass and actually figured out what to do. I killed the Nydus Worms on the previous mission, and I didn't get the Mind Control tower, so I did everything the hard way on that mission. Still beat it though. That was the only mission where I encountered actual difficulty. Everything else was easily doable.

PtS is fairly straight forward so its not hard in the sense of not knowing what to do. but it was hard because it takes alot of load/saves when i did it.

where as other missions in the campaign, there is always an ez way to do it.

I finally finished all-in on Brutal and I have to agree it's the hardest.Originally I was doing it with no nydus but I reloaded and did it with no air instead because I was getting torn apart with my ground defences not being at their strongest with me massing air. Every time the last boss showed up I'd get ripped a new one and not be able to recover.

VS Nydus I managed to defend really easily until around 80% and then I started losing my Banshees to the boss and hydras and stupidity (they really step up the amount of detection later). I made around 85-90% what turned out to totally be the correct decision and moved all my tanks up to the ledge along with all my scvs and most of my buildings too. I lost absolutely everything in the final surge just after being forced to use the artifact to survive my retreat and lose the achievement by using it twice. At 99% my last tank was destroyed and the zerg surrounded the artifact. Fortunately it managed to tick to 100% just as they were about to destroy it, literally I think it was on something like 50hp.

I was... relieved.

as for Engine of Destruction my first walkthrough was on hard and when i figured out that i can save Odin and it can help in wrecking enemy bases, so in hard i just walked over whole map with Odin and 3-4 scv. For brutal main problem was defending terran bc+banshee+viking+tank pushes. I sieged 4 tanks on high ground right to the north of base (on the roof of building) build 10 turrets there and scv, sometimes i had to rebuild some turrets, but it was unpenetratable. Then I used Odin to defend side expansion on the north-east of my base, massed ghosts and walked over the map destroying everything, Only after destroying all terran buildings I captured stations. The only problem was raven's heart seeker missile, making sure i dont loose more than one ghost at a time, and i used medievac to get rid of enemy turrets(providing vision to my ghosts) and to heal them.

I had trouble with Welcome to the Jungle because I only had MMM unlocked (with no upgrades besides concussive shells and combat shields). After restarting several times, I finished it with the Protoss ending up capturing 5 or 6 altars.

Supernova took me a few tries because that mass banshee/viking strat that everyone recommended didn't work. I found it way easier with leapfrogging tanks.

All In was probably the hardest. But then again, I used the Mind Control trick. I can't even imagine trying it "normally."
<Wolfpox> i remember when MVP beat that one guy, and everyone was like 'whoa' except that penguin dude.

In Utter Darkness was the only one that I found difficult at all.

EDIT: Then again, in All In, I went easymode against Nydus Worms. With Mutas and Brood Lords I might've had some trouble.

I went through the game first on hard so I had a pretty good idea what to expect on brutal and didn't have too much trouble. The only one that I had to restart multiple times was the train level because I did it without tanks and it took me awhile to realize I should make a 2nd fac in advance so I can really pump diamonds after killing a train and collecting all the loot. I also kept trying to expand and as soon as I stopped that it seemed easier. The level requires actual multi-tasking though, since you have to collect the spare resources, find the free diamondbacks, clear bunkers around the loop, kite the little groups of enemies out in the field and bring your diamonds back to your base to defend at certain points. Make a small mistake and you lose.

I can't say anything though because I went the easy route and did the nydus version of All In.

Definitely Welcome to the Jungle. I had to restart at least 10 times before I finally (and barely) managed. No idea what I was doing wrong but it was so damn hard to keep those Tal'darim from sealing those altars while picking up my own. I just couldn't dish out a big enough army to defend and attack at the same time.

My successful attempt ended with me turtling up the last canister on the map with turrets with a couple of scvs to repair them along with my main army.

Surprisingly, no other mission was "hard", especially after I got both banshee and viking upgrades. The much frowned upon Engine of Destruction was a piece of cake with a banshee/viking army.

The only mission I had to restart on brutal was In Utter Darkness - the last protoss one.
