Tchoumaeni and Camavina yeah they would fit that role very well.

Even Camavinga is still probably better as an 8

There’s probably tons of decent enough 6s out there, but go under the radar a bit and don’t quite have that name recognition.

I wonder if the tactical evolution of the game has squeezed them out a bit too, or at least certain kinds of them. At least at the top, top level.

Unless you have a Rodri/Frenkie De Jong type of player who can keep the ball and is as much a tempo playemaker as a defensive option of course.

It feels like quite a few teams almost prefer to have good all-rounders, who can all press well, but also if the ball is turned over quickly use it well. Rather than that kind of traditional defensive screen kinda player.

As per what you were saying the 6 in some teams is just their 8 who can do the job the best, rather than a particular specialist.

There are plenty of exceptions of course!

Quite happy with our performance there, from pre season and how shite we were defensively thought we would be hit for 5, but we were quite good. Many passes too short offensively hindering our creativity, and the goals City scored were mistake for the 2nd and the first was a lucky flick on from Bernado, can't complain, something might be there too be made.

Real Madrid having some trouble with Mallorca currently.

It's interesting to see how Real shapes up this season. There's more than enough firepower, but balancing it out could be a tricky thing.

On the one hand, an hour before a big game isn't the right time for Sterling to be releasing a statement like this, and I can understand the criticism aimed at him because of it.

On the other hand, this is basically a transfer request in all but name, and I can't blame him for wanting to leave Chelsea given that he clearly wants a return to international football. If he isn't playing every week at Chelsea then he's never going to get back into the England squad, so he needs to go to a club where he will play every week.

lets be honest neither the coach nor the players is going to give a shit that sterling made such a statement 1 hour before the game. in fact im pretty sure the players would not have even heard of it until well after the game was over.

pundits saying sterlings statement was badly timed because it would negatively impact their game is just people trying to cause drama

I don't think so. Purely in terms of roster strength, Real is so much ahead that they'd have to collapse to some internal drama or so. UCL is a bit different kind of a beast where you can make deep runs seemingly out from nowhere (see Dortmund last season), but I wouldn't put my money in it at this point.

There's a small caveat if Real doesn't find a way to fit all the talent into a starting 11 and drop lots of points early on (see Mallorca yesterday), but it's hard to see them missing the title with such a strong roster.

If Barca has a good season, maybe they'll set themselves as contender a year from now, but I think they're still at least a year from being back to the world class level. And that's assuming their youngsters keep on developing and they're able to afford a really good transfer or three.

Leading fantasy after week 1 but I'm gonna have to make a couple transfers immediately. Looks like Porro picked up an injury in the Spurs game and Cunha isn't starting so need to find a replacement striker.

Gravy in the 6 is actually surprisingly decent, his body orientation and play in tight spaces is really quite good. He just needs to be able to defend and he'd be an amazing 6.
