Mbappe, 26 years old, is at number 9 with 52 goals. Haaland (24) is at 48 goals right now. CR7 scored 17 goals when he was 26. His first UCL goal happened at his 26th UCL game.

Slightly more games in this new format too, imagine we’ll see numbers going up and up. We’ve seen it in domestic leagues as well, the greats of the 90s-thru-2000s, players of that span aren’t really hitting those goals-per-game numbers we see now. There’s been tactical shifts as well sure, but I think a lot is down to the gaps between teams and leagues getting bigger.

Mid 90s it was 16 teams, now 36.

VAR check kinda ruined the moment, but ah well. As a neutral think it’s good for the race, also nice that Everton got the last minute equaliser in the last derby in Goodison Park

Hilarity. It was a foul in the build up on Konate too I think, but I'm not complaining. Moyes might be one of the most consistent managers in the EPL. Never gets the credit he deserves.

Thought Celtic were pretty good from what I saw, not quite enough. I think Rodgers needs a bit of credit for making them pretty competitive in Europe this season. I think they’re in that bracket of teams that the new format suits. You get that mix of games, some way better than you, some worse, some roughly on your level, some a bit better etc. Before if you’re on that tier you have to beat the results of one, often two of the big boys, home and away, and that’s not even factoring in the other team in your group, who also may be better than you. It’s generally a pretty big ask. This format if you pull a one-time upset off against a big team, maybe you have them at home, maybe scrape a draw or two elsewhere in games you’re the underdog and you can sorta ride it out if you nail your games against the weaker teams by and large. I don’t know if we’ll see that every season, but it’s sorta worked out that way this one anyway.

It's a two-handed push with full weight behind while Konate likely could've had an easy header clear. As far as I can tell VAR should've intervened there if they ever plan to pick up fouls before a goal. I'm not against a bit of extra leniency on the final moments on the team trying to tie up the game, but there wasn't even an attempt to play the ball there.

The first goal was given from a set piece from a blatant dive, then he keeps awarding dives from Everton while our players were getting constantly fouled with no calls given. He called every light push on a header a foul all game then just ignores Konate getting shoved in the back when he went for the header too. Fucking shit ref. Definitely more of the former than the latter. Somehow all his mistakes favor City and always hurt Arsenal and Liverpool

I must confess I wasn’t watching super closely, was mostly watching Celtic versus Bayern and occasionally checking out the other. I didn’t feel Oliver reffed it horrifically but as I said, I wasn’t lazer-focused.

I must confess I wasn’t watching super closely, was mostly watching Celtic versus Bayern and occasionally checking out the other. I didn’t feel Oliver reffed it horrifically but as I said, I wasn’t lazer-focused. It was horrendous performance. The first goal everton scored was off of a phantom foul where Macca doesn't even touch the everton player, which of course they end up scoring off of. This happens multiple times throughout the game, Everton players diving left and right and Oliver rewarded them for it. Ndiaye hurts himself by kicking the ground super hard like chunking a golf ball, and somehow the ref rewarded that as a free kick for Everton and a foul on Szoboszlai who didn't even touch him. Salah had a break away and was dribbling around every Everton player before getting leg swept just outside the Everton box in the 91st minute and no foul was called, which probably would've sealed the game and taken the air out of their sails. Instead play goes on and we're back on the back foot. Whatever, we're still 7 points ahead and Arsenal basically have no forwards until Saka returns in a month but man this really sucked to lose, especially in the Derby match.

It wasn't the best referee performance, but that game was cursed to whoever got it, Everton were ALWAYS going to come out and kick the shit out of Liverpool and that crowd was insane, the most fiesty derby in a decade probably. In all, Liverpool should not give a shit, they are still cruising for the title and only a loss was an issue. Now they drew and Havertz out for season so game over
