Aguero went to Barca on shit wages to play with Messi, he has yet to sign a formal contract supposedly...hope he bails on them cuz he deserves better money and end to his career, not fighting for top 4 in La Liga which i think even that is a struggle for Barca now lol
Barca's gonna end up in EL or worse without Aguero, and I hope for his sake that he stays far away

Strictly enforcing the wage cap based on last year's revenue seems like a very poor decision by La Liga. United alone has already spent more on transfer fees than the whole primera division iirc and now they're also losing the best player in the world.
is there a source for this? how much more of a wage cut are they expecting from messi then wtf.

Not sure if accurate but from what I’ve read because the contract elapsed, for him to sign again he’s effectively a new player for registration purposes and even if he signed on to play for a penny, the wage bill is so over the La Liga limit that even that wouldn’t put it in the black. If he had re-signed prior to it expiring it would have been ‘well shit we have to balance the books, but at least Messi is secured.
As huge as Messi’s wages were, he is Messi. The inflation and mismanagement across the whole squad is the real problem. Griezman is a quality player to pick one example, but his salary is iirc multiples of even a player like Harry Kane. Hell Coutinho is still on their books, just such a bloody shitshow.
This may be total bollocks but I’ve seen it repeated enough in comment threads and a football writer friend of mine said he had heard some variant of this was the case.
It would be, rather, aggravating if La Liga’s (sensible) clamping down on overspending sees Messi leave and end up at a club who weasled out of punishments for overspending.
I’m not sure this is even 100% the end of the Messi at Barca road, could be all sorts of craziness ahead.
I mean what do they even do, what about the players... Makes me wonder if there is an emergency meetings going on at La Liga.
The real situation for Barcelona right now is that the registration of new signings cannot be guaranteed either, not just Messi. With the current regulations of the LFP there will be problems if they do not release players and chips. That is the harsh reality of Barcelona 2021-2022

This is just a feeling from my side and I got no prof. But Barca is not the club that la liga want to bend the rules for, many Barca players and the club has a history of supporting independence from Spain and think Barca in the past have been selfish with profits splitting if I remember correctly.

Remember a 50% wage cut is down to "only" 60 million euros per season.
Considering they have roughly 190-200 million to spend on the entire squad, a 50% paycut is still nowhere near enough.

the bigger you are the harder you fall. at this point barca is crashing down
Pretty funny that on the day of the biggest trade in history of PL. Messi steal all the headlines, read that some Spanish reporters think it's all spin to put pressure on LA Liga to help Barca and LA Liga not lossing biggest star.
Grealish is probably grateful. There's quite a bit of pressure being the most expensive English player ever and now the first hype wave is diminished by a magnitude or two.
