edit: Barca salary is 110% of the clubs finances. edit #2: First offer was 2 years contract to be paid in 5. Then it was a 5 year contract. Cash payments are not allowed by La Liga. So Messi leaving is basically sealed. edit #3: Laporta states that if they were to sign a player for 25 million they would need to eliminate $100 million off the books, they are so fucked.

im not familiar at all with the corporate structure of barca besides that it doesnt really have "ownership". have no idea about spanish corporate law either, or whether that kind of legislation would apply to an organisation like barca. what happens when barca is bankrupt or should declare bankruptcy? is the organisation available to takeover? can the organisation accept 3rd party investment? what happens to the people who were supposed to lead the organisation (ie. do people like bartomeu have any liability or obligations for the mismanagement of the organisation)? basically what does the future of the actual organisation look like in such dire financial circumstances and is there any accountability?

If you join a club partly because of the huge paycheck and a player like Griezmann has taken so much blame that he has earned his pay. Heard a player like Depay has already taken a paycut after being signed and season not beginning, that is disgraceful. Think if they want Griezmann of the books Barca could try to sell him or give him a free transfer. For me blaming Griezman is blame projecting. Also if Messi want to play for Barca he can afford playing for 10 dollars a year. He would properly still earn more then Griezmann from sponsor deals.

and whilst i agree that the real reason barca are in this shitshow is because of the board and the players are legally entitled to their wages, they have 2 choices. 1. do what griezmann does and watch the best player in the world and an absolute club legend leave the club in the worst way possible, without even a send off and have his legacy tarnished. also the chances of you being successful without him are shit anyway. 2. take a page out of your captains book and help the club you pledged to play for. help messi stay at barca so you can actually hope to win things on the pitch and messi gets to end his career in a way that he deserves. make a personal sacrifice for the good of the team and for messi who deserves a better end griezmann is on ridiculous wages anyway. he has been offered to clubs and the reason no move has been secured is exactly because of his wages that no other club in their right mind would pay. considering that he also hasnt been performing well enough to justify those wages, i think barca fans would be justified in being pissed that players like griezmann have made the situation difficult for barca further. your point about griezmann joining barca for a huge paycheck is exactly what makes it so despicable that he wont cut his wages. the club and the fans would want and expect players to play for the clubs badge and to bring success to the club, not seek personal glory or riches. i kinda think of this this way. yes the club is in shambles because the club had dumbasses as leaders and they screwed the club. but players like griezmann are only being paid those wages because they had dumbasses as leaders that screwed the club. if barca had more sensible people in charge griezmann wasnt going to be paid the 700k or whatever he is on now anyway.

Yes Griezmann underperformed but on the other side have Barca giving Pedri 10 times his wages like he deserve. If it work one way it should work both. Find it ridiculous to blame the player for wanting what he was offered and worked for many years before signing the deal.
