Maybe UEFA can now come up with the exact same idea, only with promotion and relegation from/to the national leagues.

Despite the announced departure of the English clubs, forced to take such decisions due to the pressure put on them, we are convinced our proposal is fully aligned with European law and regulations as was demonstrated today by a court decision to protect the Super League from third party actions.
“Given the current circumstances, we shall reconsider the most appropriate steps to reshape the project, always having in mind our goals of offering fans the best experience possible while enhancing solidarity payments for the entire football community. Papa Flo got this guys, don't worry.

I thought disband could easily happen in a few weeks as the resistance starts forming something more concrete and substantial, but that was never going to happen in a handful of days. I think the backlash was a lot harsher than expected for some of them tbh, particularly for the reluctant joiners, and this required every team to join in to succeed. Hmm, possibly. I have to say, if I ever went against multiple rich & powerful organizations and vast majority of biggest football fanbases in Europe simultaneously, I'd be prepared for a war. Maybe the players' reaction surprised them or something. Imagine just dropping this on the players though. I thought these were supposed to be businesspeople. Why leave something like that unplanned? I assume they were afraid of leaks? If they talked to players it would have gotten out. And they likely assumed the players would grumble but accept it because they pay their salary. Not only this, but they assume that the players only care about big pay checks. The problem is that the majority of players want big pay checks but they don't want to give up international football or look like horrific people while earning that money. Not only this, these players aren't desperate low-wage workers that can be pushed around; they live extremely comfortable lives and have options in terms of employment. To be fair, a lot of people in this thread (and across most social media/forums) assumed the same thing and didn't appreciate the resistance that the players themselves would put up. The only reason the players protested was because of people like us who forced the players to be held accountable. You think without all the threats the players would have cared? Most players didn't say anything anyway. I'll eat my words for the ones who did speak out but not the rest.

WE MUST ENHANCE SOLIDARITY PAYMENTS! Yes, exactly.
"Hey, I'm currently making 1 million per year, but I really have to make 2 million/y. Then I can also give the local foodbank 20$ a month instead of 10$! What, you oppose me making 2 million/y? Are you hating food banks? You are ruining the society! Think of all the poor you are robbing here!"

Apparently Perez is not giving in, they say they want to reshape the tournament.
I guess they have to if it's only got three members.

Good luck to him trying to form a super league without the PL clubs lol. Pretty sure fans will start protesting outside RM and Barca soon.

To be fair, Henderson announced a collective position after holding a meeting of club captains. There's a little bit of rumour about it but its clear what 'this is our collective position' means.

Yeah. And apparently Shaw and Maguire (along with Rashofrd and Fernandes) "made their position quite clear" to Woodward. Nothing confirmed, but that's the rumor.

Did the changes to CL go through now? Too much news to follow

They did. Which is why, at the moment, we're still worse off than we were a week ago!

Ok so now even Agnelli is acknowledging that the SL is dead. Is Pérez going to go full Comical Ali?

"The project put forward was never going to stand without the support of the fans," said American Henry.

I am disgusted by all these fake apologies and excuses put forward by the English clubs.

From the guardian:
Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin has welcomed the news that more clubs have withdrawn from the planned breakaway league and appeared to rule out any sanctions...
“I said yesterday that it is admirable to admit a mistake and these clubs made a big mistake. But they are back in the fold now and I know they have a lot to offer not just to our competitions but to the whole of the European game.
“The important thing now is that we move on, rebuild the unity that the game enjoyed before this and move forward together.”
Yeah, UEFA is not going to do shit, they never wanted any changes, they were just upset that they were no longer going to have a seat at the table. Bunch of corrupt stooges.

yeah this whole fiasco was basically giving uefa free good publicity because now they look like the heroes who prevented the destruction of football
thank you stupid 12 clubs

I rarely watch group stages anyway. Now I'll rarely watch league stage instead. 4 - 6 more games for teams means it'll be more unlikely to win all cups in one season though

Atletico and Inter Milan have officially pulled out.
Inter Statement
FC Internazionale Milano confirm that the Club is no longer part of the Super League project.
We are always committed to giving fans the best football experience; innovation and inclusion are part of our DNA since our foundation. Our engagement with all stakeholders to improve the football industry will never change.
Inter believes that football, like every sector of activity, must have an interest in constantly improving its competitions, to keep on exciting fans of all ages around the world, within a framework of financial sustainability.
With this vision we look forward to carry on working together with institutions and all stakeholders for the future of the sport we all love. Atletico Statement
Atlético de Madrid's Board of Directors, which met on Wednesday morning, has decided to formally communicate to the Super League and the rest of the founding clubs its decision not to finally formalise its adhesion to the project.
Atlético de Madrid took the decision on Monday to join the project due to circumstances that no longer exist today.
For the club, harmony between all the groups that make up the Red & White family, especially our fans, is essential.
The first team squad and the coach have expressed their satisfaction with the club's decision, as they understand that sporting merits must prevail over any other criteria. AC Milan, Juventus, Barca and Real Madrid the last 4 standing

From the tone of the statements it looks like the reaction genuinely terrified the English clubs, but the others don't seem that bothered and see it as more of a temporary setback.

AC Milan Statement
OFFICIAL STATEMENT We accepted the invitation to participate in the Super League project with the genuine intention to deliver the best possible European competition for football fans around the world and in the best interest of the club and our own fans. Change is not always easy, but evolution is necessary for progress, and the structures of European football have evolved and changed over the decades.
However, the voices and the concerns of fans around the world have clearly been expressed about the Super League, and AC Milan must be sensitive to the voice of those who love this wonderful sport.
We will continue to work hard to deliver a sustainable model for football.
