And when can we break out the Froggy Fresh?
I've been saving it for if he actually wins.
Also waiting for James to actually get dunked on :p

The Lakers and Lebron are big draws but the Heat feel like one of those overachieving teams that can only happen in a weird bubble year.

I got a friend at work who I talk basketball with all the time, and I've been saying the Heat were my most-feared team in the east all season. One could point at their seeding and question how a 5-seed making finals isn't overachieving, but what gets you wins in the regular season doesn't always translate to the playoffs. Their play style is well-suited for playoff basketball when the refs allow more physicality and the game gets dragged through the muck. Signing Butler has also had a similar effect on their team to Toronto nabbing Kawhi last year. It gave them a legitimate star to turn to when they need some magic to pull out a win.
I still expect the Lakers to win, but to write off Miami as simply "overachieving" doesn't match what I've been seeing all year.

Miami is not the same team with Dragic/Butler running it versus Nunn. Miami let Nunn learn on the job during the regular season and it cost them games. It was great for Nunn's development though.
Also, Butler messed up his wrist and stopped taking 3s midway thru the season. That hurt Miami's offense.

In their defense, they have been locked in their homes for 6 months while homeless junkies and anarchists have taken over their state.

Naa there out west, the Trumps rarely leave the east. Going to be interesting in the off-season to see which people the lakers bring back anf what new ring chasers appear. I could marc Gasol and many others heading there.
personally i dont think gasol fits what the lakers want to do on defense, too slow. i think they'll mostly bring back the same group, but imagine if they can get someone like a joe harris that would be an awesome pickup, but i think no way the nets dont sign him back

For Kobe. Wish the Heat had tried tho. They look beat before half.

LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WHERE MY LAKER FANS AT BABY
btw maye im being an asshole/just me but I really didn't like Dragic coming back in. Seemed like a really bad net negative with how off he looked. Really felt he threw the Heat out of their own rhythm and trying to go back to playing with him while keeping their style the past 4 games.

i'm so excited to inform everyone that Frank Lawrence is our NBA executive of the year for 2019-2020!

I want to shout Jimmy Butler out for a few reasons: dude probably has the least quit in him of any non perennial great player I've ever seen. Secondly, he made Elton Brand and Philly look even more dumb. Third, his 2/6 finals triple double virtuoso performances, culminating in that g6 dud, showed just had fucking hard it is to compete at that level night in and night out. LeBron's only been doing it for like... a decade plus.
Well deserved title for the Lakers. Happy for LBJ, AD and the rest of them.

Interesting to note that game 5 is the only game in the series preceded by 2 nights off. Without any travel in the bubble, it might account for Butler's game 5 performance vs game 6.

philly's just a bad situation, too many people that needs shots because of how much they're getting paid.

Given the current NBA ruleset you can have a maximum of 1 player on the floor who can't hit from deep. Embiid and Simmons can't hit 3s. Philly can't play big minutes with both Simmons and Embiid on the floor and expect any level of success in the playoffs.

And Butler is a decent but reluctant 3-pt shooter. He works best in Miami surrounded by shooters. When Adebayo was out in games 2 and 3, their offense gave the Lakers fits. When Adebayo returned, their defense improved but their offense was worse in games 4-6. They played Butler and 4 shooters at the same time in games 2 and 3.
I believe Miami was the number one 3-pt shooting team in the regular season, top 3 at the worst. Herro and Robinson do a pretty good budget Splash brothers impression. They routinely have good ball movement even when other teams go to iso-ball during the playoffs.
Their offense reminded me of early Golden State offense with the shooters whizzing around the court. The Warriors didn't have a Butler type slasher at the time. When they got Durant, they had to let go of a lot of their depth and couldn't really surround him with four 3-pt shooters. I think Steph and Klay were sole their remaining shooters at the end. Butler isn't Durant and Herro and Robinson aren't Steph and Klay but the Heat have the numbers on their side. The Warriors had to surround their big 3 scorers with 2 non-shooters at the end. The Heat could have 4 shooters at the same time, 3 if they play both Butler and Adebayo. Dragic can be a pretty good shooter too.

i think 32% for embiid is not "can't hit 3s", AD also is a 32% shooter, the problem is that embiid doesnt want to play that way.

During the first 3 dozen games of his career Embiid shot 37% from 3. Its been all downhill since that point. In the playoffs he is under 30% from 3. They play him like he can't shoot the 3. Teams are daring him to shoot 3s and he is getting baited into taking them.

The are both great rollers in the PnR, both rack up fouls when they are on the low block, they are also great from the dunkers spot. 32% is enough that your other guys can cook when you need to take a break, but that's not what you want those guys to be doing.

TIL Embiid is more accurate from 3 than Westbrook
