But I am for having some leeway in offside situations, handball is super difficult to judge imo.
But I read somewhere a few days ago that the referees dont want to change the offside rule. If its really only a few milimeters then its still offside. I dont know how anyone who loves football can say that. I think a lot could be improved with better presentation at least. Right now it feels like someone on the VAR office is first trying to pause the video roughly on the moment of pass with a TV remote and then squinting really hard to stick the lines on the right pixel. It's presented like someone is doing trying to do fine sculpture with a massive sledgehammer.
If the method and presentation at least looked capable of millimetre precision, it wouldn't feel as bad. It might still suck out some of the immediate emotion from goals, but at least the inevitable disallowed goals would feel somewhat justifiable rather than just someone in some evil UEFA/FIFA HQ pinning a tail on a donkey after a few beers.

I agree. They should probably do it more like the hawk eye in tennis: An animation of exactly what happened with some suuuuuuuper zoom potential where you can see every milimeter if necessary.
Blame goes to the computer. Both sides are happy. Refs don't have to fear for their lives

honestly with var they should have just made it that its only used if the first official requests for it. if the first official wants to go with his own call or the linesmans' call, that would be his choice. more responsibility would fall on the first official but that was no different to how it was in the past anyway. now the first official may as well not be there with all the bullshit var calls out now

Every manager has 3 (wrong) calls per game. I tell you guys, it is so much better done in Tennis

Challenges would be awesome in football. It would get rid of all that player crowding of refs haha
|
I'm not sure about that, it'd mean the VAR would be triggered 6 times per game every game aha

Then make it 1 call per half. Who cares. It shifts blame away from the ref to the manager, which is awesome.
Imagine the after game interviews "We were the better team but damn, today I really fucked up my calls."

Beckham seems to be making some moves.

Sounds fun but I don't think it works with football. Tennis is a sport with many many points, football has an average of what? 2 or 3 goals max? This isn't comparable. Imagine you use your call to cancel a goal against you, then the ref can't use VAR to judge 2, 3, 4 calls that could go for you... Refs should aim to make the game as fair as possible, and coaches are one of the least objective people in the game.

They should learn from Muller, who doesn't run his ass off after scoring when he already has to run for over an hour.

They're talking about sacking Valverde to sign Xavi. I hope this doesn't happen. As much as I want Valverde out, wtf is this timing? The loss against Atletico? Result is bad, football was good, this makes no sense.
Also, I really hope Xavi refuses. I believe he can be a great coach but now isn't the moment. The direction is trying to save their asses before the next elections (2021). They're not going to give him what's needed to get the club back on good rails. They're going to give him just enough, and no support to deal with the players power. It's already going to be hard to do it because he's friends with many of them...

ouch bad challenge from auba

Ban games would be: Sheffield, Chelsea, and Bournemouth great timing on that tackle all around
|
The Arsenal goal was great though. Luiz, Özil, Laca and Auba all doing good stuff.

Oh well, was hoping for a match. Switching to that average United side I guess.
Pff nevermind, already 1-0 there as well
