Hoping to buck the trend and improve once again in Tokyo. Will be interesting to see how many countries copy our funding model and if it works for them. How many additional medals did you get in track & field compared to 2012? We got half as many golds in athletics this time around (from 4 to 2) with one more in total (from 6 to 7). I'm guessing you want to point to Russia being disqualified, but they're really not direct competition for many of our medals. Genuinely, this is not a freak result but rather the result of continued investment (including what is essentially crowdfunding) and development of a strong sports infrastructure. Yeah I was genuinely curious if it was related to Russia, but it's good to see that it's unrelated.

- 100m backwards sprint - 200m hopping - 400m skipping - 50m running on your hands
I mean, I was a champion in breaststroke in elementary school so I'm kind of biased towards it but its still way slower than freestyle. Like walking (and sort of like hurdle and steeplechase).

if bolt gave enough shits he could train for 400m and for hurdles, that would get him like 4 more medals per games.
swimming could kill one of the relays without losing much, reducing phelps medal per games by 1.

Not likely. Still waiting to see Bolt vs Mo in 400m, but my money's on Mo.

i know its not likely, but if he wanted to collect medals this is in the realms of real possibility (or was when he was younger).
100m freestyle to 400m medley seems comparable in difference to 100m sprint to 400m hurdling

That ... actually sounds interesting

That's football mentality for you, on both sides. And as a wise man once said:

Oh I don't think neither the crowd, nor the player did anything wrong considering it was football. But I think the poster claiming that Germans were much better sportsmen and claimed Germans would even stop matches if the crowd booed (without backing up this claim) was full of shit.

I´m soooo hyped for Brazil x Italy today! Hope we can play like we did against Russia and take the win, but both teams would be worthy champions.

tbh i dont see Italy winning that one, they depend too much on if Zaytsev has his game or not, which is very very hard to do playing against a host team.
Just look at the way the bronze match goes now (and recall the 25-8? 4th set of US vs Italy).

I hope you´re right, my friend. I´m trying to keep my expectations low, since last olympic finals were pretty painful. 2 match points for us on the third set and Russia managed to turn the game and win 3-2. Felt really sad that Giba couldn´t finish his carrer with that gold.

its not your team's fault Musersky happened in 2012.

Anyone watching the marathon? The guy from Bahrain apparently can't tie his shoes properly - 2.nd time the laces have come undone
EDIT: Watching it seems so surreal - they ran the last 5km in 15 minutes (and some seconds) after having already done 20km and the commentators considered it slow. I can't even do that with 0 km in my legs.

Down to 3 in the lead pack in the marathon. the American in the group has apparently only run 1 marathon before today

I like how Rupp (the American) has changed his cap at every depot pretty much.
EDIT 14:25 on the last 5 km. Seriously, I'm awestruck. It doesn't look like they are going that fast o.0
