I presume that rugby-scrum style of play is banned so why was what Miami did not flagged?

Have the 5 linemen in front, a ball carrier, and 5 linemen pushing from the back. If you only want a yard or two then it seems better than handing off to a RB who hopes the line have pushed forward enough on their own (or somehow created a gap). Everyone is pushing forward, nobody is pulling the ball carrier (so it's fine in college according to Shellshock) and no defenders can touch the ball carrier since he's surrounded by team-mates. If your guys are bigger than their guys then the whole mass of bodies goes forwards ![]()

Its fine for getting like a yard it rarely gets more. I think your theory is like communism sounds great but doesn't work in real life. I thought the QB on a sneak was supposed to dive for a gap before the defence could react and not for the QB to be crushed in the middle of a pile. I do think the scrum tactic would lead to injuries, and could be difficult for the refs to know if the ball has crossed the line (they cannot see the ball) but many times I've seen a RB run straight into the back of his o-line at the goal line and if it were allowed to shove him in the back then I wondered why teams don't do it, or if they do occasionally and I just haven't seen it. I presume it is a bad idea, because otherwise teams would be doing it. I just wasn't sure why it's a bad idea.
