Dear Diary: + Show Spoiler + I'm sitting at 185 lbs and a few %bf higher than I'd like to be. I was originally planning to push on to 190 by the end of march, but I may end up just sitting at 185 for a while. I lost my abs unless I flex them, which I hate. I have another % or so to go before I have a "belly" but I just look and feel soft all over and it's terrible. I also desperately need a tan, but it's been below zero (Farenheit) 10 of the last 12 days here, so that's not happening any time soon. Progress is slowing down on my current routine (which is expected, as I've been doing it since october) but it's still coming along pretty well. I'm still almost on track for hitting the goals I had set at the new year. I miss crossfit though, and would like to go back to that, but I don't have the space or the equipment for it really, and I'm not sure who's programming I would follow anyway. Probably the outlaw power program, but I don't know what's going on with that as it hasn't been updated in the last two weeks. Even if I had the equipment to make most of the WODs work out, I don't know if I have the energy or am self-motivated enough to do crossfit alone. That shit's tough. Exercise ADD has killed my progress many many times over in the past. I really need to commit to sticking with the program I'm on, at least until June, at which point I'll be moving and I can make up my mind if I want to pursue actual crossfit in an actual box, or keep doing what I've been doing. I guess I'm just not as excited about what I'm doing as I was when I started it a couple months back, which is understandable. I know I'm going to keep doing it for a while, so this post is more of a "shut up and front squat" reminder to myself than it is anything else.

I also have school off this week so I'm just taking it easy. I could easily go back to lifting once I stop taking the Vicodin (it makes me a bit unstable/lightheaded so I think it would be dumb of me to lift while I'm on it), but I'm afraid of ripping my stitches out accidentally, or at least hurting myself because of the increased blood pressure. Yea take it easy with your wisdom teeth. I was forced to take a month off of practicing my instrument during the first year of undergrad when my stitches failed to seal. They ended up blowing open and venting air up into some cranial cavity... not good. The wife just made an amazing slow cooked beef new year's dinner for some family friends last week, but the good stuff starts this weekend. I've been staring at a year cake in my fridge all week :-).

And they tell me it might take 6 weeks to heal. WTF is this. Putting an arm in a cast is a terrible treatment for tendonitis

And congrats on the progress phyre. That's a pretty huge improvement. I can't wait for my stitches to come out on Tuesday so that I can start lifting again.

Here are the PRs that I reached by using the method : Bench - 5x100kg Squat - 5x145kg Press - 5x65kg Deadlift - 5x125kg My deadlift is "weaker" than my squat because knee problems prevented me from deadlifting for a good while. Overall I don't think that deloading would help ; I feel like my body is starting to get stuck in the Texas Method routine and it needs some change. Maybe I'm wrong because I am no weight training expert but I don't see myself making much more progress by following the method. I'm looking for a new training program. I'd like to have a program that relies heavily on the basic exercices (squat, deadlift, bench and overhead press) just like the Texas Method ; I'm not really interested in dumb bells and machines. Maybe it's time for me to switch from full body to weekly splits too. Do you know programs that correspond to what I am looking for ? I'll do my own research too, of course, but I am still posting this here because I always find good advice in this topic. From what I gathered, the "5/3/1" program might be a good solution ?

I've been using the Texas Method for about 5 months now, after several people here recommended it to me, and I cannot achieve the weekly goals any longer : couldn't add weight to my bench for three bench weeks in a row (which means 6 weeks total), for example. And yes, I thought about doing my own routine because I have a specific goal, but I don't know if I would be able to find the right volume of work on my own. Most likely I will find a program that I like and adapt it to my goals, or create a routine based on elements I like in some programs. Yes that is a very solid approach, I think best routines aren't completely static. Look for lifts you enjoy the most (you will progress on them faster, and they will actually switch), how long you recover from various exercises, and how much time you can and/or want to expend on the gym. In my own experience for example, now that I have very flexible shoulders I can press every day (most people say this is impossible lol; currently bench TWICE a day, do all the accesory work on the following, and light klokov presses on the 3rd day for recovery, twice a week). I recover somewhat slow to squats, while I recover faster than what seems average from back work. Just to widen your perspective I would remind you that there are tons of accesory lifts done with a barbell and a few other elements, that most Olympic Weightlifters do and as such are def valuable: Front Squats, Romanian Deadlifts (with or without deficit), Klokov Press, Back Extensions, Pull Ups, Dips, hanging leg raises, etc..

Wendlers method is solid and i would rather follow it than create your own program if your goal is to strengthen your main lifts. http://www.t-nation.com/workouts/531-how-to-build-pure-strength
