I was trying them with a neutral grip earlier (which I did a lot years ago for some reason), but I didn't really like that. Maybe that means i should do it. you probably have scapular winging then. you need someone who knows what that is to diagnose you. It's mostly on my left side. Does that fit? its possible to have scapular winging on only one side or worse on one side than another if thats what you are asking. are you left handed? No, I'm right handed, although a little cross dominant. The feeling I get from lifting with my right vs left arm is rather different. When I'm pulling with my right arm, it feels very localized, like only my pecs and tris are working, while when I pull with my left, it feels like the whole arm is working. It's really apparent when I do bent over rows. I considered that this might be because the major muscles in my left arm aren't as strong, so the arm tries to recruit as many muscles as it can, while the right arm is just trained to only recruit the major muscles because they are stronger.
possibly. seems like deficient motor recruitment on your left side and probably scapular instability/winging.

The next day had some soreness in my big toe so I took some naxopren. Felt alright so I worked out the next day and jogged another mile. That night I was awoken with a huge pain in my toe/ball of the foot.
I have obviously gone too hard too fast but I'd like to know what I possibly hurt and how to avoid it in the future. Thanks!
stop running start lifting

ehh that will just transfer the pain to his elbow

Running outside or on a treadmill? if outside, on concrete or asphalt or dirt? What kind of shoes are you wearing? Have you ever had a coach look at your running form? When you say jogging do you really mean jogging or do you mean sprinting?

I can still bend my knee to 90 degrees and walk slowly, it's not really painful as well and but there is some swelling. Thanks in advance.
Sounds very similar to when I tore my acl minus the crack sound

the night after my acl repair involved the worst pain ive ever experienced in my life. you have much to look forward to.
had hip surgery last week to correct FAI. my hip was shredded guys. on the long road to full recovery now. pain is much less than knee surgery at least.

^ how do u avoid that problem in the future?

Post acl surgery I wasn't in much pain at all, the only thing that hurt was the incisions on my skin and that wasn't bad
|
avoid what problem?
@jer
are you kidding me man? you saying you slept like a baby after acl repair?
|
Nerve arrangement is particularly idiosyncratic relative to the knee and elbow joints, so it wouldn't be all that unusual for one person to feel a lot more pain during post-op than someone else.

Yeah it really wasn't bad at all
Sleeping in one position kinda sucked but it was more uncomfortable than painful

you said your hip was shredded/hip problems, how would you prevent that happening in the future? i havent been following so..
|
apparently upwards of 70+% of males who do teenage athletics like hockey/soccer/football have radiographic abnormalities of the hip socket compared to the non athlete population. something to do with growth plates and remodeling possibly. only a certain percentage of them go on to FAI syndrome with pain and dysfunction. genetics probably plays a role. i tore my labrum probably as a result of the bone rubbing bone for so long at high loads.
i dont know that it could have been prevented.

I run inside on a track. It's got a somewhat soft surface. I wear asics gt-1000 running shoes and wore them walking and broke them in. Never have had any coaching just decided to try to start running. My pace was about 12 minutes a mile.
It's feeling better today but I'm going to give it a couple of weeks and then do half a mile and build up slowly from there.

Yeah it really wasn't bad at all Sleeping in one position kinda sucked but it was more uncomfortable than painful I agree it sounds like ACL. I had an audible pop when I did mine but was able to limp around and bend my knee. Post-op was rough but not terrible with just general pain. I actually walked for graduation two days later. Sleeping on back was the worst part as I'm very partial to side sleeping with my knees bent so that sucked but the oxy helped.

My neck and left upper back just got super painfully tight out of nowhere. Was just laying on a couch. Why does this keep happening I didn't even do anything yesterday.
|
because you arent taking care of yourself
|
can confirm feel like shit dont take care of myself

Well, I foam roll, stretch and I've been taking all my pressing movement progression very slow and its been a few months since I've had any aggravation You're probably right but I'm not sure what's the catalyst. I went from feeling perfectly normal to it hurts to turn my head and three or four different muscles in that area are knotted up.

So I did this, and it helped, I was using a landmine that was raised slightly but not significant enough to matter. I also realized that if I move forward more, the plate will hit my chest before the bar hits in between my legs. But the more I move forward, the more restricted my range of motion, because the sooner the plate hits my chest. Where should the plate hit me if I am to perform the movement properly? Does this vary with height? Just feels like I'm not getting as good of a pump as I should be.
