EDIT: Nevermind, guess he's not.

Also pretty sure that The Habs will somehow try and say he isn't worth 6 million followed by a matching of the offer sheet someone signs him for 7 years at 8.5 million.

Devellano drafted Lidstrom. Devallano has a great hockey mind.

nice to see Hasek, Forsberg and Burns make it into the Hall of Fame today.
its nice to see Lindros was rejected. Had Lindros showed up in Sault Ste. Marie and Quebec City he might be in. he angered guys like Branch and Bowman by acting like he was bigger than the game.
the OHL is Branch's little empire and no one is going to screw with him. its taken 25 years but Branch is getting his revenge.
Lindros and Forsberg have similar career numbers. Forsberg was a big part of 2 gold medals and 2 Cups. Lindros was a bit player on 1 gold medal team and Canada did a lot of losing whille Lindros was in his prime and anointed the leader of Team Canada as Captain. the 1991 Canada Cup wasn't really a best-on-best event with all the Soviet-Bloc countires economically crippled.
Forsberg played nice with the NHL hierarchy and Lindros did not.
I think Lindros' only hope is to donate another $5 million to another Ontario hospital to try to bribe his way in.

My experience with Lindros was that he was a very solid player in NHL '99

It's just that a lot of people are in love with the player they wish he had been. Yes, he represented a new type of player, but that representation doesn't mean much if you can't fulfill your own potential.

Lindros was probably my favorite non-Ranger, and that was in spite of him smashing them whenever he faced NYR. Dude's combination of retard strength and skill was awesome to watch.
This year was a hard nut to crack, though Blake and Modano over Lindros is meh. Esp as second and first year players respectively. I think he gets in next year though.
Burns is def overdue.

It's a friggin crime Burns has taken as long as he has, and I don't know why they didn't let him in the last chance he had before died, it's retarded.

Hartnell for Umberger trade is... why? If he really did ask for a trade, I'm glad it didn't drag out, and the Flyers did get a substantive return.
|
shaving two years off of a pretty crappy contract is nice
however, they traded a top six forward for a top nine one. meh meh. umberger can be useful, but i probably would like to pay hartnell to score more than pay umberger almsot to the same to do something you could get a plugger to do

RJ Umberger: Making teams worse since 2007.

Rumours in Edmonton have involved names like Markov, Umberger, Matt Greene, etc. So happy to see these players signing elsewhere rather than fleecing Edmonton for Clarkson money.
edit: For those interested in a fancy-stat comparison of Lolmberger and Hartnell: http://www.extraskater.com/players/dashboard?players=3,247

Lol, this showed up on my Twitter feed again recently:

Isn't he with the Ducks now?

considering he is their best player I would be surprised to see such a classy organisation lowball him. that would be retarded and massively counterproductive lol.

there was a thread on r/hockey or r/nhl the other day and the question was what was a single trade that could happen that would be best for both teams.

Shattenkirk and a 2nd round pick for Yakupov?

Callahan signs 6 more years with Tampa, how much I don't know
|
ouch if it is anything close to what he was asking for. He's 29 now and he is oft-injured due to his style of play. I can see them getting another 2-3 years of 40-50pt production of him before it goes down hill fast. His play relies entirely too much on speed and hitting, which are sure to go before that contract is up

Home now got some updates
Callahan signed for 6 years, 34.8m total which is 5.8m/yr (not official numbers, just what some reporters are reporting)
Mike Johnston named new penguins head coach, 3 year contract. He was associate coach for the canucks and kings at various points
|
Granted, the Lightning got the first round pick because the Rangers made the finals. It's a lot for Callahan, definitely. Fortunately for TBL, many of their quality young players are under contract, so Callahan's deal isn't crippling. At least not yet.
