Either way I think a solid move for Vancouver considering the options they ahd available. Bonino is solid(Actually had more points and a better +/- then Kesler), Sbisa I don't know too much about but from what I hear solid 3rd line young d man with potential to grow into a bigger role. And of course would have been better if they could grab the 10th pick instead but I still think it's a good deal for the Canucks.

Ops, 24th, you are right. If Kesler wasnt a disloyal douche and let the Canucks trade him anywhere then the returns would have been better,
|
i think bonino is overrated. He had his first 20-20 season at 26....on the best scoring team of the NHL. Sbisa is trash

does anyone have a link to that deal the pens offered for kesler to gillis in march or whatever? wasnt it a better package?

Eh, I don't think that the return is that bad. Kesler is overrated.

God damn I wish Kesler didn't handcuff our GM like that, how self-centered can you get. OH WELL TIME TO OFFERSHEET SUBBAN WITH ALL OUR CAP SPACE NOW LOL

damaged goods as well.

yeah, Kesler's a douche but the trade seems okay. Kinda feel bad for the Canucks that they're losing a lot of key players.

I like how low responded to Souray though. leave him in the AHL to rot as a statement to everyone else that wants to ask for a trade out of Edmonton. Hurt the team in the short and mid term but no ones gonna demand a trade lest they get stuck in the AHL.

The Oilers seem to like these defensive depth signings. Makes sense as they have a number of good prospects who need some sheltering - but they still need some massive top-pairing help. The depth signing are fine. We paid nothing for the CBJ guy and he is ok. The rumor mill has MacT dangling his pick looking for a top flight defenceman. Nashville might find that huge contract of Webers very ugly soon so hopefully we could relieve them of it Can you also give me nothing? I'll take 9 million over 2 years. I ment to acquire him. The contract is hopeful...very hopeful. He has the ability to be worth the money so hopefully he is.

Nor would anyone ever choose to play in Edmonton given how its management has a history of treating players poorly, having no class, and dragging people through the mud in the press.

I don't put any fault on Souray for his ordeal. The Oilers have a history of this shit whereas Souray doesn't.
edit: Between the Comrie fiasco, the Souray stuff, the Burke feud, "6 rings", etc. it shows what kind of guy Kevin Lowe is. He's a guy who makes everything personal in lieu of being professional. Served him well as a player but not at all as a manager. I wouldn't want to play for that organization either.

that plus the fact that Edmonton in january < California in January. ( pretty much any other NHL city in fact )

Mike Comrie was a cocky ass kid who thought he was worth more than he was, hense the contract hold-out. When he was traded to Philly he didn't get the deal he wanted either. Infact Philly traded him to Phoenix that same year. He was asking for around 5 million when for the rest of his career he never got more than 4. FYI Anaheim offered us Corey Perry and a first rounder for Mike Comrie. Lowe really should have lost his job for not taking that deal. Part of it was Comrie agreeing to pay EDM 2.5million reimbursement. This is where Lowe fucked up. Not paying Mike Comrie was correct. Being an arrogant idiot and demanding money from a player to be traded was dumb.
Bill Comrie was a important man in Edmonton and the fact he booked it out of town due to this is what really hurt.
Brian Burke got pissed off that Edmonton was playing within the rules of the NHL salary cap. Offer sheets are allowed. We didn't do anything unfair and we didn't cheat. He only made himself look like a fool. If my memory is correct Lowe did quite a bit of ignoring Burkes mindless ranting. I never really understood the controversy here. If all the GMs hated the idea of Offer Sheets why didn't they abolish them in the CBA?
Sheldon Souray whined about his injuries and asked for a trade. He was given all the opportunities he needed to heal since the year he asked to be traded he only played 37 games. Injuries are a part of the game and his concussion at the start of the 2010 season was given all the caution a superstar player should get. He missed 16 games and I would bet alot of money that he was saying im fine, let me play, since everyone was doing that with concussions. So what does the idiot do when he returns? He fights Iginla(the guy who hit him from behind to cause the injury) and wrecks his hand and gets an infection in it to boot(I will admit it was bad luck since this was entirely the surgeons fault). The fact that the GM didn't keep tabs on Souray isn't relevant. Thats the head trainers job and I guarantee Ken Lowe was updated Tambellini on his progress.
The 6 rings comment to fans was fucking boneheaded I give you that.
Lowe isn't perfect, and I would love to see him fired but he's been put in quite a few difficult spots by primadonna players. I don't put him at fault for any of the situations except the 6 ring comment

Some friends on fb are predicting the Canucks are trying to tank for McDavid next year XD
|
Also I read something about Ekblad being voted the best offensive defenseman and the best defensive defenseman this year haha
|
Gary Bettman getting the longest boo I have ever heard haha
Edit. Never mind, they booed everyone and everything not Flyers lol Should be fun!

Oh thank god. Sam bennett was passed up by the Oilers for the big German center. I really had no desire at all to see Bennett in Oiler gear
|
Garrison for a 2nd round pick. Not bad for Tampa Bay. They were lacking some depth at D, but now they look quite scary.
Reinhart over Bennett. What I've seen of them, I was more impressed by Bennett and his aggressiveness. At the NHL level you can't just rely on talent. You need to want to win. But in a few years we will see.
