James Kneel has been traded to the Predators for Patric Hornqvist and Nick Spalling.
edit: Rare for a draft day trade to have no picks attached

Too bad for Neal, he won the Chris Kunitz lottery when he got to be Malkin's winger and generate a billion goals and points, now back to mediocrity. Whats the logic here from Pitts? They are going to pair up Malkin-Crosby more often? Or are they hoping Hornquist is going to go full Kunitz?

Yay I don't have to watch that fucking dirtbag play vs Philly much anymore

Kevin Fiala, good pick by Nashville. I think he's been undervalued. I think he's the best european prospect. He's basically a more talented version of Zuccarello.
So, Josh Ho-Sang isn't even predicted in the 1st round, but can you really justify letting that kind of talent go when you have a 20-30th pick? We'll see.
If Detroit doesn't pick McCann I hope he drops to 20, so the Sharks can pick him.

man i'm taller and heavier than nylander, couldn't they have picked someone that didnt make me feel he's going to be a glass cannon? does that mean the leafs don't want more tough guys but faster guys?
phoenix also bought out ribeiro

2way center in Detroit
Pierre Mcguire @PierreMcgureNBC 1m
Larkin will be a captain in this league one day I really believe that. He can captain my yacht this summer just to prove it #NHLDraft

Have to remember these kids are 17-18. They may put on a little more height and most can put on more muscle rather easily.

actually he's just barely heavier :d meant it more like my weight class isn't that great for my height in terms of fitness, martin is 5"8 and 180lbs which is actually really good.
the age thing makes a good point though. damn, now i feel bad for not accomplishing as much in life T_T

wow, Doug Wilson. You could have picked McCann or Kapanen, and you trade up! Looks like the rumours were correct that the Sharks were high on the US players (all 3 picked already).

If they wanted the control they shouldn't have put that in his contact. It's not kesslers fault that the management has traded away there assets for nothing and given them all no trades so they can pick where they want to go. Now they are stuck with enough talent to be bad but not horrible.
With a guy like burrows and so on maybe it's karma, or karma from the riot. But Van can blame no one but themselves, they have shot themselves in the foot over and over. You should be damn happy the new GM is at least acting instead of waiting till all he get is a bag of pucks and a used jock.
Gillis was a terrible GM, but most players of Kesler's calibre get NTC's. If Gillis is an idiot for doing that, then pretty much every GM in the league is an idiot. With a guy like Burrows it's karma? You have no idea what you're talking about.

Wow, Sharks took a Russian. How things change.

Every GM that signs a player to a no trade clause is an idiot. Unless that GM adds in a stipulation that the NTC is completely waived upon a request to be traded.

So every GM in the league is an idiot. Ok.

No Trade Clauses are basically a players way of choosing where he wants to go if he finds his current team unsuitable for any reason. And alot of players do just that.
Even GM's know this. They tried to make NTC/NMC not legal for NHL contracts in the last CBA negotiations. the NHLPA wouldn't have any of it.

That Kesler trade is a decent return. Sbisa is overrated though. Bennino is ok, nothing special imo.
I don't get the Garrison trade though. Seemed kinda pointless.
The Neal trade blows. It's a 250k real money savings and 750k in cap savings for a Hornqvist, who is a decent player, but a couple notches below neal. Spaling is a very average third liner with little upside. Doesn't get buried with his minutes, but wasn't playing anything particularly hard either, which will change in Pitt, esp with no more Neal to lighten the load on Malkin and Sid. Not really giffted offensively.
I would think that trading a player of Neal's level would net more than a top 6 winger and an average third liner. They probably should have wrangled a decent prospect out of that.
