Richards just goes invisible when he has a bad game. I'm almost certain he'll make around the same points next year Hawk. 11 point difference give or take and with an unproven playoff performer. Would you be okay with that? I sure as hell wouldn't.

Damn that's some sick scouting. there is a scattering of randomly good level players who were drafted pretty late. Half of Holland's reputation has been built on drafting Lidstrom, Zetterberg and Datsyuk at the ass end of the draft.

I sure as hell wouldn't. he was a ppg the year before with the rangers. since he was injured i am not too worried nash for the next four years is livable. richards at that price was certainly not.

During the season I wanted him gone but he picked up his production later on. Simmonds basically is better in every way other than his shot while also being much younger and on a much better contract so Hartnell was largely seen as being redundant. Thought he would get a better return than this though? The defense needs to be completely reworked and Lecavalier/Grossmann need to gtfo. idk what Umberger brings to the team other than occupying a bottom 6 role? Oh well Hartnell had some good years with the Flyers. Will miss some of his antics like trolling Phaneuf and Pens fans, but I won't miss him falling down all the time, losings fights or taking dumb penalties. edit: reading he may have requested to be traded which would make more sense on the return i guess

But as much as he slipped this year, Hartnell is still a better player for sure

the alternative to not signing markov was drastically overpaying for Boyle, Niskanen, or Stralman, none of whom are close to him in ability, or not getting any of those and hoping Georges, Emelin, etc can pick up the slack. Markov is by far the safest bet of that lot, and his deal is probably better than anything you can get of the other guys. Niskanen will get about the same $$, if not more, and more years. Boyle will probably command around the same but he isn't the Boyle of a few years ago. Stralman, it's not known whether or not the Rangers even cut him loose, but he's def not as good as Markov and it's not known how he would fare getting much tougher minutes and an additional 6-7 minutes a night.
