Steveling, you are right, I shouldn't have called it "money" or "satisfaction", I should have called it value. I was trying to simplify.

Platini said that about 50% of the european clubs were running at a loss in 2009. I am actually curious how's the situation now. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Financial_Fair_Play_Regulations

Someone needed to point out irregardless isn't a word otherwise he's going to look bad again and again. I was being kind. just because its non standard it doesnt make it "not a word". you understood what i meant and so the word achieved its purpose. dont be an idiot

No contract signed yet but it seems like a done deal when even the Kicker reports it.

Aren't these new crazy investments in PSG and Monaco making french football more interesting?

Conservative western Europeans tend to dislike the idea of rich Arabs/Russians coming into football and splurging on fringe clubs. It only benefits the clubs already at the top of the game. Aren't these new crazy investments in PSG and Monaco making french football more interesting? And massively inflating player prices which make the smaller clubs even less competitive than they already are. edit: It's not healthy to need a rich investor who can easily pull out to get to the top of the football world.

It just seems to me like Chelsea don't really need to get Cavani, especially for as much as the rumors state, since they already have Ba, Torres, and Lukaku. I feel like they are going to buy Cavani just because they can, as if they are just trying to show the world that they have a ton of money to spend. On July 02 2013 17:43 Pandemona wrote: Im pretty sure we know the reason why Ferrose ![]() Mr Wenger rings up a club (or his chairman) "We bid £8million for Ashley Williams" Swansea chairman "His value is £10million before you can talk to him" Arsenal chairman "Ok thanks for your time, i'll get back to you".......... Wenger "£10million, are they fucking joking, do they think we're made of money, no way, we'll find someone else, their trying to rob us" Repeat with every target ^_^ Yeah, no more swindling people in the transfer market : / On July 02 2013 21:46 USvBleakill wrote: Is it just me or is the transfer market heavily overheating at the moment? Isco 30M€, the armenien guy from Donezk 30M€ i mean these are all good players but a couple of years ago everything above 20 Million looked very high and only for top players. Today it looks like every average player costs 10+ Well, at least you have to spend money to get talent. On July 03 2013 02:04 Wazabo wrote: Aren't most teams across europe on red balances? If the system is able to stay afloat only because few rich people are throwing a lot of money into it, it is not a really good system. I like much more how things work in the NBA, but I doubt the uefa will ever go in that direction. I'd love to see a luxury tax implemented. I don't know enough about team finances to be able to set a threshold, but it would limit payrolls because teams would have to pay a tax (either a certain % of the money they are over the threshold, or a set amount for every pound/euro over the threshold) when they exceed it, then the money is evenly distributed amongst the teams that aren't over it. The problem though, is that it still doesn't solve the disparity between the top flight and lower divisions : /

But ignoring PSG/Man City/Chelsea. The trend of the last decade has seen the likes of Bayern and Madrid just completely take off financially to the point that it's unthinkable for any club from the Netherlands beating them anyway. Of course you can say that both teams deserve their money (Bayern at least) more than teams with financial investors, but at least there are clubs competing with them. To fix football as a whole there needs to be something capping all financial powerhouses.

He'd be way cheaper than Cavani, and he wouldn't need to contribute much to the link up play with all that talent around him. Same reason Dortmund arent interested in him. Good coaches dont like Gomez or his play style. Football becomes more and more centered on 10 man chasing the ball (through pressing) for 90min non stop. If you get Gomez 9 players have to do the work of 10, what team would want that?

He scored 19 goals last year.

Chelsea tears are so goddam delicious specially since Chelsea fans will probably complain if the deal goes through about FFP and how money is affecting football negatively oh the beautiful irony
