Yeah, it's a real shame Ferrari have been totally inept since signing Alonso and that McLaren wasted last year, despite having one of the best drivers on there team and the fastest car for most of the year. Merc have been pretty amazing this season if you think about how Lewis had pre-season written this off as a dev year for 2014, just a shame that Vettel will walk away with the championship like he did in 2011, without any trouble at all.
Redbull are simply the best team by such a margin its silly, back to back stops for Seb and Mark both under 3 seconds, insane development on the car from the start of the year and total and utter domination of both constructors and drivers championships.
Let's hope the midfield can continue to be interesting for the rest of the season so we have something to watch and then bring on next season, with all the silliness of whole new rules/cars!
And the people booing aren't F1 fans.

Monza with DRS is such a pisstake.

Well, people wanted tyres that didn't fall apart, and this is what they got.
The Schumacher dominance period was more fun than this.

Mass confirms he leaves Ferrari via his twitter;
From 2014 i will no longer be driving for Ferrari. I would like to thank the team for all the victories and incredible moments experienced together. Thank you also to my wife and all of my family, to my fans and all my Sponsors. From each one of you I have always received a great support! Right now I want to push as hard as possible with Ferrari for the remaining 7 races. For next year, I want to find a team that can give me a competitive car to win many more races and challenge for the Championship which remains my greatest objective! Thank you all. Felipe
Which means its very likely Kimi is replacing him and we are going to have a mouth watering duo at Ferrari of Fernando and Kimi!

BBC reporting that Kimi definitely has the seat on a 1 year contract with an option for an extra year.

I'm surprised Kimi would go back to Ferrari

I just hope this means Hulkenberg gets the Lotus drive, he has earned it.

I think Paul's earned it more, hulk made his move to sauber in hopes they could give him a win, shame if it was simply a one year move. That said apparentally Kimi's wages have been delayed from Lotus due to there financial instability so maybe a move to them next year might not be the best move...

I think its all down to development for 2014. Its a big rule change with completely new engines. Its quite likely Kimi is not impressed with Lotus development programme, and Ferrari has bigger budgets which gives them more likely hood to have a competitive car in 2014.
Ferrari also may be offering alot of money too which I am sure helps. Rumours are that Lotus are having some financial difficulties aswell and perhaps Kimi is starting to see this.

Not a chance DiResta has done more than the Hulk to earn a top drive. Last year he crushed him in the second half of the season, this year he has looked good in a terrible car. He moved to Sauber because they had some good results last season and he didn't need to bring money like he would at Force India but it was just a stepping stone.

I don't agree with that, but at the end of the day the person that is most 'deserving' is irrelevant in F1.
And who knows they might still drop Roman, from what I can remember they were not too happy with him before the summer break so who knows. And then there is still Massa who, is still fast.

Good for Ferrari, I hope he and Fernando can get along. If Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull are closer performance-wise it could be a really interesting season, both for the constructers and drivers, as all those teams have at least one great driver.

all these announcements mid season, its pretty much obvious none of the teams care about this year anymore

Seems normal to me, they usually do this kinda stuff not too long after the summer break and before the end of the season so they can start designing the cars around the drivers and get them in sim work asap, signing contracts and legal work etc takes time!

indeed nothing revolutionary about this

It just tends to be the auction teams who wait until the close season, sadly though those teams are growing.

Well free practice one and two were pretty depressing. Vettel looks pretty set for pole and then a pretty simple cruse home as per Monza...
|
I wouldn't count out Lewis just yet, he is pretty amazing around this circuit and could be a 3 time winner without the Nelson Piquet Jr incident and the gearbox failure last year.
