No, he had his nose almost to the turn when the door was closed-the only way that was turning into a pass was if raikie cut the chicane and then gave Checkster the place after he dodged a collision

Well there are always 2 drivers needed for such a crash however, in this situation, kimi was pretty clear "don't try me here" but checo still stried and overdid it

Indeed, its fine and all to want to over-take and to try it at Monaco but it's very dangerous because there is no room for any mistake, I think the Perez/Kimi incident was just a racing incident, Kimi gave no room and Perez had already committed.
Though, has to be said, McLaren seem to have a growing problem with Button and Perez both trying to becoming the #1 driver. Perez has been fairly aggressive since the start of the season on Button.. maybe he needs to just relax and calm down a little and when the car is there he can go for his first race win without over doing it and smashing his car up.

Someone really needs to give this guy a drive, such a shame to loose him...

Do you think that Mercedes gained more testing next years tyres in a current spec car or Ferrari testing this years tyres in a 15 month old car? I don't know but the two seem much more similar than people seem to think. It is a very interesting case and I would guess lawyers all over the world are now rubbing their hands together.

I think people focus bit too much on 'what tires were used', but extra 1000 km of track running with a current car (and drivers) is always a big gain. Im not a fan of both tests but I do see difference. That being said, i'm not making any judgements yet.

I just found out that next year there will be a race in New Jersey, across the river from Manhattan. That's amazing! I never thought I'd be able to see an F1 Grand Prix in person

the layout is similar but there are sections that are much, much wider than monaco which means ... overtaking!

Perez is turning into a pseudo Maldonado if he keeps this up.

At the restart in Q2 Raikkonen and Ricciardo didn't use the fast lane to exit the pits but pulled beside the 1st car at the red lights. Breach of aricle 23.6 of the sporting rules, +2 pos. penalty for both.
Perez, Maldonado and Vergne did the same and were not handed penalties.
FIA.

Q2 was ridiculous. They where practically just racing each other around their outlaps because they new there wouldn’t be enough time for everyone to start a flying lap and the track looked like it was going to be quicker.
I think they might have to introduce a rule along the lines of if there is a red flag in the last 5 minutes of a qualifying session the clock will be reset to 5 minutes when the track is reopened to stop the madness. It was looking more than a little dangerous.
It was pretty exciting though.

Zere, Kimi and Ricciardo effectively overtook cars. There is nothing wrong with pulling to the right but you must maintain position or let everyone go, that was why the penalty was given.
Greg, I like those rules, it is part of being an F1 driver.

I guess it's pretty rare to have a red flag with just enough time on the clock for a few drivers to get laps in. Most of the time there won't be enough time left so it's end of sessions or it's earlyier so there isn't such a panic. It might be over kill to bring a rule in for such a specific scenario. Formula One has enough rules already.

but did the other three join the rejoinqueue after the light or maintain the outside position to overtake cars?
