Don't really think you can compare that over time, but I agree that he is a very good driver. Might be the best in the field. Kimi should also be on his level. What he's doing with his Lotus is insane.

I think Lewis is doing a more impressive job, though Kimi is proving he's still got it.

We've restructured the driver line-up & welcome back @H_Kovalainen who drives for us in FP1s in Bahrain & Spain http:// Woot! Now let's see how strong the Bianchi/Marussia combination really is

In other (non)news, thank you Lewis Hamilton for your McLaren pitstop; funniest thing I ever watched in F1 hands down.

His car started to accelerate, but one he touched the wheel, it sort of... slightly drifted or something and he had to counter it. That was the moment when both Ferraris took him over. I don't know much about car physics in general, but I'm pretty sure that was some weird stuff that shouldn't normally happened. I read at a german motorsport website that he had trouble with the clutch at the start, that's why he didn't get off well. Its good to see Heiki back in a F1 car, even if its just as a test driver in FP1. I think he didn't get to show what he can do at McLaren, maybe it wasn't the right team for him.

I loved seeing Vettel drive like a mad man to try to get back in the top 3, but Hamilton held him off quite well..

He did really well (I thought) at Cateram, so it's awesome to see him back.

I am also glad to see Heikki back, but him being the reserve driver isn't really a position for him. The auction that F1 has become is frustrating as a fan, I can only imagine how it must feel to someone like Heikki, Kamui, Timo or even Davide Valsecchi. Yeah, Max Chilton is rubbish compared to Heikki, but gets a seat because he has connections.

Many drivers have connections with sponsors and manufacturers so when you recruit a driver you may get millions extra in sponsorship money (or conversely lose millions if you go for skill over connections). This has led to a situation where new drivers can usually only get an opportunity to drive if they have good connections and sponsor deals in place before joining F1, and sometimes decent drivers with few connections are pushed out in favor of (relatively) bad drivers with good connections. Of course most fans feel that it should mainly be about skill who gets a seat.

Older guys are also finding a P45 in the post too, Barrichello would have destroyed Senna last year. Heidfeld proved himself against many drivers (Kimi, Webber, Kubica so on) and yet he has no hope of returning. Button may never have returned if Brawn had folded and Honda were not so generous. Talent has become less important.

i hope with a new chasis for him in Bahrain we will see some improvement. Although it's rumored that it is Lotus new interconnected suspension which is causing him problems - it is (supposedly) easier to setup it right with kimis driving style.
