Hey TL, after my leg have been healed up from a very preventable accident, I'm going to hit the road once again.
Simple dilemma I have been having these days. I have been increasing my diet by quite a lot. Breakfast = 300 Calorie, Lunch = 1K and Dinner = 1K. But despite all of that (I use to eat sub 2K Calories beforehand), my stomach still growls very frequently. So I'm debating whether or not to suppress the hunger and push it through. The problem is that I find myself to be pretty bust nowadays from working out everyday.
Suggestions I'm asking is should I or should not increase the diet and is it healthy to work out the same muscle group at consecutive days as I'm finding myself in strains.
why do you want to limit the calories you eat like that? i say go for it and eat more, especially if you say you're feeling really tired from working out. also, what's your diet? that matters a lot. make sure you're eating healthily (see the nutrition thread).
sounds like you're overworking your muscles too, since you're feeling the "strains." give them a day or two of rest before working your muscles again. also, what's your routine?
So I've gotten my strength up to more or less where I want to be (3x5 130kg squat, 1x5 145kg dead), and since its getting closer to my beach volleyball season I want to start switching over to more plyometric/explosive training.
Wondering what kind of maintenance volume I should do on my squat and deadlift while i start doing more stuff like cleans. Today just did 1x5x60kg, 1x5x100kg and 1x5x130kg squats before getting stuck into some cleans. Is single sets at my previous max load going to maintain the strength ok? Don't have the same problem with deadlift since I was only doing 1x5 to start with. Also I'm probably going to be cutting back a days gym each week due to playing/training
I'm done dieting and "seeing" no changes at all, gonna start eating +4 times a day, and keep on lifting hard. If my body doesn't change in the long run, then it will never will.

I was bored at work so I just uploaded the secret bulgarian dvd training on youtube. It's a video clips of the bulgarian team training for the 1988 olympics. Just pm me and I'll send you the link.
@the kid-eating man #5, a general daily diet consists of Breakfast: Bagel + 1 Slice of Cheese + One scramble egg Lunch: 1 Sandwich with chicken breast + margarine + one slice of cheese for entree, one apple, juice box, and granola bar. Dinner: 1 Cup of Rice + 2 Serving of meat + 2 Serving of vegetables.
Then my usual workout routine is somewhat restricted as my gym have closed down for constructions. So I had to make the best with what I have @ routine. Which actually isn't that bad because one, I can logistically keep my psyche and not get distracted going to gym.
Secondly, hey I can spent those extra 30 bucks on something different.
Finally, I really have everything I need so far in this journey that I'm voyaging through. Perhaps that it will soon come the day for a full upgrade but as of now, I have found the 3 main keys for upper body strength of the abdominal area, arms, and of course chest. So what I have with me as of now is a dunbell (sp?) of 35 Pounds that I use work on my tricep, and bicep area. I perform about 30 Reps and 4 sets of them daily, or so have I tried. For my pecs, the traditional pushup exercise have pretty done its job, I can do more or less 80 of them in one sitting with good form. Then lastly my abs are being honed by crunches, V lift up
Explanation:
And another exercise in which I attempt to lift my knees up vertically to hit the opposite elbows w/o bending my backs and this creates much tension once the reps reaches into post 100.
This whole routine takes about 35 minutes to complete and have got me great result in the pre-gym era. The thing was that I was eating like a pig back then! No, not healthy at all. Chocolate bars, McDonalds, French Fries, Ice Cream and all that jazz would not be missed in my daily diet. Later, I started to take this serious. I just know that underneath those layers of fat, there lies a great surprise.
And oh boy after 4 months, did it show. Only atrocity was I went really overboard with the diet program, I ate 1.5K Calorie a day. And even though my fat percentage was at a fairly low (lower than 8%), it was cutting into my muscular cells and to the point I wasn't able to keep up with the work out schedule.
So yada yada yada, the time has came again for me to take the steering wheel and wrestle my way back. And with my stomach being hungry after only 1 week of work, I find that pace to be pretty rapid that I didn't expect myself to have such cravings.
what are your goals? do you want to lose more fat? (i dont think so because you said you're lower than 8%, which is pretty crazy). or do you want to gain muscle and increase your weight? if so, then you gotta add some more protein in your diet. even your body is telling you that it needs more food. you gotta eat more calories than you burn. you could add some whole milk, nuts, seeds, and more eggs into your diet.
or if your goal is to be able to maintain your current workout without feeling so hungry and without feeling so sore after the workouts, then i'd give you the same advice as above: eat more. there's really no other way to solve the problem.
on your routine: may i suggest adding a couple exercises? pushups are great and you can do a ton of them. if you want to gain more strength rather than endurance, you can try clapping pushups or weighted pushups. your routine also lacks exercises that work your core, back, and legs. you could do dumbbell rows instead of bicep curls (works your back and your arms). you can do deadlifts, squats, and pull-ups too.
edit - as for your soreness, are you working out consecutive days without a day to rest in between? that might be why.
^YES totally I do believe that the root of the problem for that soreness is simply because of the lack of rest on my part. Evidence to back up that is that after a day of refreshing myself, my muscles have recovered.
And yes I do very much appreciate your input on the dietary part. I will try adding protein in it because of your opinion. I just didn't want to gain.
Edit: Oh man did my routine again with a twist by kid muncher and the result was fantastic. Now off to shower.
Feels so good to be alive!
Edit2: Fuck shower took off all the flex away. But that's okay! I'm going to work out even harder tomorrow and increase my protein consumption. Man why did I go for a one year hiatus. I guess getting back the rookie mindset is building up my ego.
At this point I"m just trying to eat everything I see. Have been at 3k calories plus for last 3 days. No milk sucks though (prevents half gomad or equivalent)

Were you bulking or cutting?
cutting.
But I think after all I was doing it wrong. I'm doing normal diet style now, eating 4-5 times a day, and eating shitloads of protein.
NOM NOM NOM
gotta buy like 24 cans of tuna :D.

Can you post what you were doing in terms of workout and diet? If you are dieting and your bodyweight isn't decreasing then you most likely aren't making progress.
