I would kill for this.
Definately, although a rowing machine for warming up would make it complete. Seriously though, I'd trade the 50ish machines at my gym for two weight platforms any day.

*funkie's decaf moment* That's what I warm up with.
:D
when I was in the states I went to a place called LA Fitness, they had a shitload of machines and a shitload of people too. THey did have a decent squat Rack, and I went there and pwned 100kg (so ez, but I had a injury on the back). They have nice discs (no bumper, nor OLY Lifting platform), a lots and lots of hot bitches.
They have a pool, jaccuzzi, Sauna, all kinds of shit. I went there as an invitee of a relative that lives in Miami. It was a good experience. Can't fucking believe the amount of sexy shit that goes to that gym.
Anyway.
I went to the gym on tuesday:
Squat: 115kg 3x5 (no pain at all, felt so fucking fine, I love this) Bench press: 80kg 3x5 (back to the 80's, fuck yeah) Deadlift: 130kg 1x5 (oh, bitches were looking ;D).
all in All, a good "get-back" to the gym workout, everything felt fine, and in place. :D
for powercleans you might not find it as useful to practice with the "lowest weight possible". i started at 25kg (maybe less) and moved up in 2.5 increments till 45kg+. but i found you wont really "learn" the form wholly until the weight gets heavy for you (around 45kg for me) because when it becomes heavy you'll be able to realise what you're doing right or wrong far more obviously.
eg trying to jump and flex your hips when its very light wont teach you much, but when the weight gets heavy then you'll need to jump and flex your hips properly and will learn then
basically im saying, off all the SS exercises, i found powercleans the most useful to move up quickly with instead of slowly/cautiously. (i took it slow/light myself coz scared of my injured forearm). oc ya if you have completely failed to get proper form take all the time you like until you start to get it hehe
Thx for the tips, will work on those cleans and move up the weight some! Until i got it set though, i'll continue with pullups for now.
Been to the gym two times since last, steadily increasing and it feels good.
In almost all cases, no. Unless you have never worked out before. And even then, I would suspect it would stall out rather quickly. Ten minutes is the time it takes me to warm up, not even counting warm up sets.
Don't have the time or just don't dedicate the time...?
Back in the gym after two weeks of being sick. As expected, I have lost about three months of progress.
I hate my body sometimes.
Also, kind of a funny mishap: I'm practicing my cleans with 50kg, and I decide that I want to practice pulling myself under the bar. I attempted to do so aggressively, and ended up pulling the bar into my throat. I could barely swallow my spit for the next 30 minutes.
I'd think more about jumping under the bar than pulling yourself. Remember its a leg movement. And try hitting yourself in the throat with 130kg...not fun.
Speaking of blackout, tried the advanced tuck planche from "building the gymnastics body". Got in position for like a second and then just collapsed. My core is dead. Got to take a day or two off >_>
Opened with 150kg. Easy as a breeze as it was supposed to be just to get the nerves right. 2nd lift was 180kg. Solid, most of the other lifters thought it was too deep though. 3rd attempt was at 195kg, a 5kg PR. Had a buddy yell a go command to me when I had hit the depth. Bar rolled a bit forward and the spotters came in, wayyyy to early and that cost me the lift :/
BP: 90kg openers, very easy 2nd lift: 100kg, tough but solid 3rd lift: 105kg. Not good but benching from a full stop is a pain in the ass.
Bloody fucking hell. Mostly mad about the ruined 195 squat. But you live and learn. Won 3x gold since I was the only competitor in my weight class lol.
Total: 180+100+190 = 470kg / 1034lb. Not good compared to my gym lifts but you can bet I'll break this total pr next time. And there will be another meet.
