If two party members attack one enemy, and the first party member kills the enemy, in all modern games the second party member will automatically target a new enemy. In these old games, the second party member will whiff and strike air, and in Final Fantasy 1, a message of "Ineffective" will appear. It wasn't fixed until the Japanese version of Final Fantasy 3, and in Dragon Quest it remained until Dragon Quest 4. In Golden Sun in case of overkill your character just assumes a defensive position for the rest of the turn (legit action, although I've never had to use it on purpose, esp. since if I want to protect someone damage reducing Djinns have highest priority, and the healers in the gam are pretty fast anyway).

Or maybe he was just bad because he was like 8 at the time.

Blackbelt/Master pretty much blows everything else away Master + Whitemage could probly duo the entire game, haste on Master in the later levels one shots most bosses. (haste in ff1 increased hits per round not how often it was your turn)

black mage, red mage or a ninja can, but white mage can not. There was a spell Temper? I think, that doubled your damage too? or maybe I am confusing it with something.

Your Attack Stat goes up as you level up, while Elemental Power only goes up based on the Djinn you have (and the classes that actually stack enough of one Djinn type to boost that element's power significantly tended to suck). Of course, this is kind of just secondary to Summons being OP as fuck. On September 07 2013 07:26 Scip wrote: white mage can't cast haste black mage, red mage or a ninja can, but white mage can not. (I've only ever played the original NA cart version)

Never looked into it too much (Flash #1 though). That's really the biggest problem with GS' otherwise really good class system: psynergies don't deal enough damage compared to Djinns to be worth it, and their utility is very limited too, esp. as most don't work against bosses, while if you need defenses you can just spam low level summons to get elemental resistances. If psynergies were really worth it, you would have had more liberties to mix and match Djinns between party members to get fancy hybrid classes and use them, rather than not dare to use a Djinn or a summon because putting one into wait state or have it reattach itself after rest (dunno the English term, the yellow state they're in after being summoned) would fuck up your class, thus depriving yourself of the most effective/powerful tools of the game ('cept sol blade, that thing was pretty dumb when thinking back about it). Edit: I'd still cast Odysseus or stuff like that because it was cool as fuck and super beautiful at the time, and other spells like Meteor Leap or Skull-Cracker (something like that, French name was literally Crack-Helmet) because the animations were goofy. The class you get by equipping the playing card had pretty funky spells too in GS 2.

I don't know if they ever updated it in the many remakes but I've gotten upwards of 4k damage in one turn (the final boss on the NES cart has 2k) this is all based on memory, and pre-internet trial and error gaming, but It's somewhat accurate.

I decided to prove that my years of being antisocial were not a waste, and tried to ninja my way to my seat in the back of the room without breaking the silence of the room. It was full of upperclassmen, btw. No pressure. So I silently get to my seat no problem, and I wipe a bit of sweat off of my brow as I make it quietly. And then proceed to knock over my stool, and a huge metal crash completely breaks the silent tension and I basically die. GO TEAM Did you play it off as if you meant to do it?
