But my rule is "If swordfish is ever an option, that is the correct choice". edit: Shrimp cocktail isn't for me, I don't like it all cold and slimy.

Fried is meh. When you guys say Shrimp do you mean small prawns type shrimp or prawns?

I just had some all you can eat crab this weekend, so good. I'm a pretty big fan of all the seafood I've had so far, but I've definitely not tried everything. I will say though that bad calamari is awful, I don't know how it can range from so great to just so bland.

However, my few experiences have been a chewy tough rubber substance with little sucker pads with no flavor. It's just not a texture I enjoy. If it tasted incredible I'd get past it. I'm not a picky eater but so far it's been unpleasant. I don't like it either. My folks love it though. I think it really depends how it's done. My dad last time for a salad basically prepared it for a few days softening it up and cooked it a day before. Supposedly it was very tasty and soft. The same is true for Bacalhau. Sometimes people don't soak it properly beforehand so you get this extremly salty fish that just overpowers you. I find most seafood is good it's just how well it's prepared

Also I hate seafood. Had too much of the stuff as a kid and it just soured me on it. That and the too many legs/not enough legs problem.

You either cook it really fast or you cook it for a long time. Knowing that and knowing the tendency of restaurants to not get the doneness of steak right, it should be no surprise.
