New inhouse logistics TBD. In the meantime, feel free to hang out in the league general discord https://discord.gg/0lCEKA3jUEFxERzd ("add lol" in #welcome) and get some ad-hoc games going! |

I am tired of not being able to climb. I have played LoL for a year and I am still in silver. I made it to master in sc2 before I quit to play LoL and spend more time on school. I really enjoy league, but some of the fun is starting to leave when I can't climb. Anyway, enough QQ, I hope you guys can allow me to play with you and learn!
- Ingame name St Michael - Rank and division Silver 4 - If you are a lowbie (Gold or below), include what position you would be interested in working on. (List two) Mid, ADC - For each role, identify two champions you wish to improve on Mid - Xerath, Ahri; ADC - Ezreal, any other
Thanks! Also, I am having trouble with using and verifying on team speak, does the verify work for mac users?

Yes, it works for mac users.

I think the OP needs an edit.
Just join the channel KissPlz by the time specified (9PM EST, Thursdays, try joining abit earlier if possible) for an invite. A signup in this thread isn't required, though TS will be.

inb4 people forget to read the modnote, like every week :s
Just add a big bold PSA to the OP to read the modnote should be enough.
|
inhouses today dont forget guy

Going to sleep earlier so I hope some other token euro shows up.

I shouldn't have aired out my frustrations on TS, but just as a PSA these games are to practice playing as a team. If you're not gonna listen to anything the team says and does, why even play?
I expect more from you Tolkien, especially since you're a long standing member of these, but today was pretty questionable.

I agree with you,you did go a little overboard but it was warranted. We won cause he was never with you guys and we kept just winning teamfights and catching up more and more as he was always late or not there. These inhouses have always been here to get better playing as a team and improving as a player by practicing roles/champions you want to work on and getting helpful feedback after the games. Also the weird off meta picks/builds should be banned still, I remember back when I used to do these we weren't allowed to do that. While crit Garen can be viable and worked in the last inhouse it doesn't really help anyone overall, especially when your team was expecting a frontline tank.

I don't think non-meta builds should be discouraged. Our Shen had a Shiv and a Zzrot portal, but at least tried to communicate and play with the team. The only thing I really expect is teamwork, that's why we're all on TS to begin with. If we don't play as a team, why are we even playing these and why are we even on TS? I can go solo queue and get the same experience.

I came into these thinking they were meant generally for improving, but they really don't seem that way. I got some great advice and I got some abysmal advice (do this because I'm plat and I said so is abysmal advice, whether it's correct or not).
I would suggest that whoever decides to be leading these things make a decision, is it fun games to play inhouse with the people you chat with on the forums? Is it play meant to improve skills and provide feedback after games? Is it dicking around and trying to determine new builds and strats?
Only reason I'm saying anything is because there was some shit going down last night that is really not conducive to a positive environment. And that's cool, if that's what you guys want that's fine, but as a new guy who probably wont be back now you're not really being very welcoming. That sucks because I genuinely had fun that first week, but I honestly think I learned more in the awful soloqueue game I played after the inhouses than I did playing a role I don't know vs a player 3-4 tiers above me, with ridiculous builds that don't appear ever as it is. I'm sure it's a lot of fun for you guys and I don't want to stop you, but start a new thread that's a bit more accurate in what's going on then, please.

The entire goal of these is for people to try playing a serious 5v5 game with comms and then reflect upon what went right and what went wrong and what people could have improved on. Before in the past when we had these IHs, the goal was to give the lower ranked players their choice and have everyone else fill in. If you play support, we can have someone play AD and guide you through laning phase and tell you what you can improve upon. If you play a lane, maybe someone with some free time can take a look at your lane and tell you what went wrong, or even the enemy laner.
If you do not feel this way about your experiences, please PM me.

I think I may have been in the game that Noobity was referring to - perhaps more decision making pre-load (balancing teams, who wants to go in what lane or improve what) might help with the 'matchmaking' aspect of it.
As for the negative environment, some players have off days, some are just toxic in general. Feel free to confront someone (or tell Roffles/the organizer) about their BS.

You want these IHs to function on the pretense of helping newbs but I fail to see how allowing such suboptimal builds contributes to that vision.

You want these IHs to function on the pretense of helping newbs but I fail to see how allowing such suboptimal builds contributes to that vision. First and foremost, these IHs are to get people playing 5v5s with comms. Yes, having troll builds isn't conducive towards learning, but you can still learn a lot about how to overall play the game and what you should be doing at each points of the game even with troll builds.
The thing that isn't conducive towards learning in any scenario at all is having one person not playing along with the team. So yes, while troll builds aren't beneficial towards helping people learn how to play against certain champions and whatnot, its' better than having one person play his own game when the other 4 are playing another because then you ruin a game for 9 people. Small wins first.
|
Roffles I think the issue right now is potentially conflicting perception of priorities in these IHs. There seems to be some confusion as to whether the purpose is to learn and get better at the game, or to play some 5v5s with comms. The two, while not mutually exclusive, are different. Neo, I think, sees the priorities initially as a place to learn to play against things that are good in solo queue (so, essentially, to improve). Roffles is seeing it as a place to play 5v5s where both teams are on comms, but that doesn't necessarily create the environment to improve, like Neo would want.
Basically figure out what you want, damn
|
Why can't it be both? Why can't you play 5v5s seriously with comms and the intention to improve as well? That's what we did a long time ago. Why can't it happen now?
I want both, but if I can't get both, I'd rather have people play as a 5 man unit instead of having someone troll and ruin the game because even if you pick strong champions that you'll see in solo queue and build optimally, if someone is trolling, the game is still ruined.

When I ran IHs, my priority was individual improvement for the newbies. That obviously meant laning phase is a big part and if you laned against a player 2-3 tiers above you, who would punish even the smallest mistakes, that's a great learning experience. Especially so if the better player points out the mistakes postgame and what the newbie could be doing better.
The 5s aspect is more about ingame communication and hand-holding on what to do throughout all phases of the game, not so much the actual 5v5 team fighting. I just find it a little asinine to want 5s cooperation for IHs but allow troll builds that people aren't going to see in 99% of their games. If you want both, then enforce both. I don't see why it needs to be mutually exclusive where you want to prioritize one "IH rule" over the other. I think it's agreeable that minimizing variables (in this case, normal builds vs troll builds) would be best for newbies? If you don't play with your team, warn once, ban on second offense. Same with shit builds.
But in the end, Lost My Will To Live is running the show now so rules are up to him. I just advocate transparency and actually tell people that troll builds are acceptable. Noobity and others don't all appreciate the wonky builds and they don't seem to be expecting them in these IHs.

I disagree simply because there are off-builds that people can consider "trolly", but still work. You need to be able to adapt. A couple patches ago, Fizz was AP and if you went Jungle Fizz or Bruiser Fizz, they'd call you a troll. Now you see bruiser Fizzes all over the place. Just because it's not popular, off-meta, or even potentially trolly builds/picks doesn't mean you won't ever see it. So I disagree.
Troll builds don't mean you can't play as 5. You can still play as a 5 man unit even with someone building slightly less than "optimal".
And I don't run these anymore, which is why it's hard for me to regulate things. Yes, I agree a strike system would be nice to have, but I"m going to have to rely on others who actually play in these often to actually keep tabs on what's going on. I simply don't have time, so whoever shows up hosts and organizes these games.
