Eh, last name is Lee/이, I just took the "ee" and the first syllable of my Korean name, Sang/상.
Blame the immigration authorities that decided 이 = Lee.
Ps. Not my fault you guys were saying 상 wrong.

I think that had more to do with roffles getting fed 2 kills + double buffs going in lane against you ...
On a side note. Tonight's games were really fun but one thing I should tell newcomers who are silver/bronze is that you really shouldn't be afraid of feeding or whiffing skill shots, etc. You just have to "go for it" sometimes because otherwise you start ceding small advantages that snowball but you never really improve because you just end up playing into your own comfort zone. (I'm actually guilty of this myself so it's ironic I'm saying this =( ) For example, I forget whom, but there was a Gragas on one of my teams tonight who held his ult because he was afraid of missing it when it was our strat was mostly designed around it as a pick. Like sure, you might end up botching it and costing us the game but ultimately you just have to try it. No one is going to blame a silver/bronze in these games for feeding. Heck, even golds don't really get flak for a poor performance. (Except me =( )

If lane swaps aren't allowed, I think lvl 1's should be discouraged. People don't get to learn that much when their opponent walks into lane with at least +400 gold and knows how to abuse it.
|
To be honest, levels ones do happen a fair amount in actual ranked so I think they're fine as they are. There are times when they feel a bit too "cheese" because of how fast the lanes can be decided by them but a majority of levels ones teach more about defense and warding than anything else IMO.

I think it's more productive to play with no lvl 1 invades, and once in a while just play 10 lvl1 situations 4 minutes each over and over localized training yo

Just don't invite BP.

Both valid suggestions.

I mean, learning how to manage situations like that as a team is good practice though. If solo queue is any indication, most people just feed when this happens. It's a tough and matchup-reliant decision to camp that lane or throw the lane to the wolves at the cost of focusing elsewhere.

how else will u make the shitty master yi puns?
i think there is a lot to learn from early invades. for instance last night there were many more ways we could have secured the sona fb without counterkill (karthus flash exhaust, flashing over the wall faster to follow) and i think each of those experiences is valuable. likewise for opponents the uncertainty of knowing the enemy's movements is a really vital part of the game and falls into the general notion of "expecting the worst" that i feel a lot of new players are lacking (being careful of warding when someone could be in a bush, etc.)
in general i dont think there should be too many "official rules" per se. i understand why neo made the rules he did regarding laneswaps 'troll' picks etc., but i think you should be able to expect more out of TLers and their intelligence. if someone is truly uncomfortable in a 1v2 situation, that should be brought up in champion select.

i was playing the 2v1 as the 2 and I didn't even know what to do half the time. I wasn't sure whether to just push the tower extra hard or zone the shen or what
|
Doing a 2v1 does nothing for the vast majority of players in these IHs. Preparing golds, plats, bronzes, silvers, and mid-low diamonds for a scenario that they will never encounter does not help them improve at all. I would rather have 1vs1 lanes where we can build on fundamental laning skills and get advice on matchups, sure you can tell them what to do and how to respond, act or whatever in a 2vs1 lane but there are still fundamental problems in mechanics and understanding of the limit on their heroes that can only be built on by learning how to lane 1vs1 intitially. Not to mention the vast skill difference between enemy laners[i.e one top laner being plat while the other is silver or in the ADC/Supp]can causing the 2vs1 to go straight down the drain. I've played 1k games that have bounced between high and low diamond and I've encountered lane swaps twice. The troll pick rule I can understand that people want more leeway.
|
fair enough. it's more or less up to the players to decide, sounds unpopular enough i respect the userbase's intelligence as to be capable to learn from those experiences even if they wont encounter them frequently though relative power level etc. is much more tangible and immediately relevant in laneswap scenarios and feels like that general sense of when / why / how to engage is the most lacking thing from the vast majority of players here, so would be an interesting exercise to improve that quickly (when to dive, when to fight teamfights with lower level toplaners, etc.)
|
Honestly, with us doing games every day, learning how to 2v1 would be great for the gold+ players who frequent these games.
It'd be neat if we had a day of the week sectioned off as being the day 2v1's is okay, and practiced it on that day specifically.
Also, when the IH's started I was bouncing around Gold, I am now Plat 3. TY IH's and Navi TY.

np bby.
i think 2v1 is kind of similar to level 1 invades and the benefits both will give u - level 1 invades will teach you where to ward, how to be decisive in your play (instant flash follow ups pls)
similarly 2v1s you need to know when you're at risk of getting dived when you're the 1v2 (and knowing where to ward to be certain of this - having your support ward their jungle to track movements of the 2 to see if you can be 1v2 in the first place is important if you want to try to dodge it in the first place) and how to play the dives on both the aggressor and defense side. likewise jungle rotations are critical for both sides - its possible to outplay the 3v2 and 2v3, that kind of trial and error is nice. it also forces u to actually think about rotations and paths, which i think works that latent game and arranged map movement sense that is not really emphasized in ranked and i think which is what most players want / need to improve in these IHs.
