The most impressive micro in this game (coming from a bw perspective) is the variety of splits the players at the top can pull off.

If i'm trap after this game i'm not using Disruptors again. The ping is too high.

Well, next game should be Trap favoured in terms of ping? Could be hard for Reynor to react to disruptors.

Yes and the snowballing economic advantage leads to this slow death rattle as banes role in and erase expansions in the blink of a moment. It is really difficult to find enjoyment from this slow inevitability as a viewer. I think changes favouring early action, like the hellbat pushes would make for a better viewer experience.


I'm a casual viewer. So I can't comment on actual balance too much.

Of late, TvZ has been frustrating to watch. I'm actually pro-T in BW, but originally pro-Z in SC2 (I didn't like how efficient MMM were). But in past 1-2 years, seems like the pendulum has shifted. Everything T throws at Z can get countered with the same strat (Queens hold the fort, delay long enough for banes and mutas to pop). Even if a base dies, they can easily drone up and stabilise. It's just gotten really stale to watch.


I am a zerg player too, but dia, nowhere close to a pro. My criticism of the game comes solely from a viewer's perspective and I what I believe hurts it the most is the thing you point out regarding the queen. Unless I'm watching live I skip all TvZs to the 5 min mark because watching queens defend hellions/reapers/BCs/banshees etc while the drone count reaches 70 is stale. This has gone on for 3 years and the game needs change lest it die completely.


The increased worker start in LOTV definitely is a contributing factor. I can't believe I'm missing proxy rax cheeses (used to hate them). Recently, in ASTL finals, Flash managed to execute a perfect bunker rush against Action's fast expo (which is standard). The game ended in 5 minutes, but the suspense was worth every second. It's a game that has so much rewatch value.

Sorry, don't mean to start a BW-SC2 debate. Just a recent analogy that came to mind (partly since there isn't many quick games in SC2 nowadays that I can think of).


No, I completely agree. I used to watch BW back when the players' names were Boxer and Yellow, so probably at a time when it wasn't very figured out compared to now. But the quick, hyper micro intense games is part of the unique allure of esports I feel. There are no periods, the game can finish at any nerve-wracking second. In early WoL, Tastosis used to scream "bit by bit!" when someone pulled the boys in an early allin.

Haha - miracles can happen. Soulkey should have never been able to come back against a 3-0 deficit against Innovation in that GSL finals (especially since Innovation was so dominant during that period)
