After Savior (the best SC zerg player ever) incident SC was dying badly. Foreing scene was non existent (our clan tot dismantled, mondi, testie, draco, etc all retired). In korea lvl was also very weak, flash at first was low cheeser and gained the throne with weak competition such as a mediocre bisu and jd.
Mechanically - Savior was an inaccurate joke and already a sagging failure as Jaedong took over. Effort overtook him as the best zerg on his own team long before that, Idra talked about Effort being the best on the team long before Savior was found out to be using his position to destroy people.
Savior was good before Protoss knew how to fast expand and when Terrans still played 1 base style or 2 base all-ins.
