It doesn't make sense.
Anyone in their line of work identifies a problem with their tools, would switch tool. I know it's a bad analogy, still though!

Because they realize that learning a different race to get back to a similar level you had with the other race will take longer than it will take Blizzard to patch the game.

During this tournament it seems Serral is playing more aggressively than he did at BlizzCon, maybe relying on the fact everyone expects him to go for a safe route? Or maybe it's just that Nydus is too good to be overlooked. You missed PiG commenting that Serral had amazing plasticity of brain that allows him to adapt to every situation better than his opponents.

I only recall a small handful of successful race switches and even then they were inter-game race switches (i.e. switcher went from race he kept playing after BW to another). It's far harder to play other races at top level than it looks.

I mean if you're a good plastic surgeon you should be able to operate a complicated tumor in the brain, why ask some other specialist. You just identify the problem and change your expertise.

And then Thermy won an IEM in 2016.

I don't think he would be remotely as good with Terran as he is with Zerg, but I'd see him fighting for a WCS tournament, for sure; he may not as well, of course.
