If we measure it by performance vs Zest it's pretty clear Maru couldn't have been the second best

Zerg was so bad that year that Inno almost won that series despite playing more LoL than SC2. He had the same score in Code A vs Dark that he had vs Stork.

Tbf, claiming that Maru was second best player in the world that year is almost Serral fanboy levels of delusion. You simply can't be second best in the world when you fail to qualify for 3/4 starleagues and exit the fourth in the Ro16.

Debatable. While the score was one sided, the games were crazy. The score being 3-0 is very misleading to how close it was. TY "only" lost 4-2 , but all the games he did lose were roflstomps.
Plus Maru smacked Zest, TY, Stats, and Dark in proleague afterwoods.
