Isn't it nice that we spectators can now get the enjoyment of seeing those cool shiny skins without it affecting the players?
Great move by Blizzard!

Yes it's nice, that mean we might actually not get our head chop up at the end of the year

Only if the theory that forcing viewers to see those skins makes them buy them turns out to be true.
I'm inclined to believe people who want to buy skins buy them anyway and people who don't, won't suddenly do it just because they see them in tournaments.
Also there's the potential viewer loss due to those skins.

It's better to sell more skins than to have more viewers, and I can't see why knowing that skins exist make you want not to buy it.
The message from Blizz is that if the Warchest stop selling they stop financing the esport scene, at least it's what most of the caster/community member were told, so let's just live with a single bad skin and some nice one.

I think you misread. I don't think this makes players not want to buy it, but everyone who plays the game already knows that skins exist so I don't really see the point of forcing them into tournaments when every potential consumer is already aware that skins exist and buys them if they like them. I really don't think it makes a difference for how much skins get sold.

The whole point of financing esport is that people see a game then want to play it/ spend money on it, I freaking hope it work because if not this is going nowhere.

Well, that's one of many options. But just look around and see how many "pointless" ads campaigns exist - but corporations aren't stupid, so those still likely make money. The amount of people who see it here and want it as well cannot be underestimated.

There are a lot of coop/arcade players, more than ladder players according to TotalBiscuit.

I don't want to get in this fight, especially because I think these skins actually look good and showing them won't do no harm, but saying that corporations aren't stupid is a really hot take
I used to organize tournaments for ESL Italy and referee Go4SC2s, WCSs, and IEMs for ESL SC2.

Ads work. Companies wouldn't spend millions in them if they weren't effective. Their return on interest (ROI) is measured and tracked very closely since we're talking about huge investments here.
As mush as we (consumers) hate them, that doesn't change the simple fact that ads do work. If they didn't, the problem would be simpler.
